Just think of the fun flying and be able to do about any type of slow or fast maneuvers with a 20cc DLE and usea plane like the ones show in photos below.A bigger 30ccc engine could be put on a profile like the complete home-made airplane show. Or just use any bigger profile with the same (inverted) engine install. Any way you do it...it should be cheap to run & fun to fly! Capt,n

Yes Karol, I will never go over the 120 sized airplanes, Most of mine are 60 sized and have some 40, One reason is cost as you go up! But space is also a big reason, I like to fly many diffrent planes and my shop is not real big, My hauler is a S-10 pickup! I have a two bedroom house the smaller bedroom is my bedroom and the master bedroom was turned into a shop, My garage is a tipical garage full of junk! That is why I am loving the fact the engines are coming down in size!

I have a buddy that lives down in Texas, He sold most his smaller planes so he could go gas, and with the engines getting smaller he is sick that he did not wait. He liked the smaller size because of same as me space! It is nice to see the engine makers are coming out with gasser's all airplane hobbiest can use! I cringe every time I have to buy a couple of gallons of glow fuel or half a dozen glow plugs!

Thanks DLE and others for thinking of all of us in the hobby!

My doctor said I would need allot more therapy, So I bought more planes!

And with YDA having a soon to be released 23cc it's all good, as it seems that at long last the hobby's engine gods are showing US some favour. Christmas is shaping up to be a real blast this year

I must agree, the whole DLE engine line is a good thing for the hobby.

Would this engine be too far of a stretch for a 50" wingspan biplane made for a .60 two stroke? I think I might have to wait for a 15cc to come to market.

I'm thinking that it will be perfect for the "second" (don't ask) GP Super Skybolt I'm currently building. Had an OS 91FX on the last one and it performed well, but want to get away from the big 2 stroke glows. If this engine performs like the DLE 55 I have on my Yak, it should be perfect.

Thanks, that one looks promising, I emailed them to ask about weight. It seems reasonable that it might fit.

Thanks, would you think this engine would be reasonable for a 50" biplane powered by a .70 glow engine?

Most likely it would, it is .90 cu. in. and spins a 16x6 JXF prop at 8200, a 14x7 APC at 9600. Don't use less than 32:1 oil in the gas and it will do well.

I did some math on the weight, it looks like I can balance it and it is a 1975 Jack Stafford kit made the good old heavy way, I think I can pull some weight out of the kit, that and the modern much lighter gear should get it in at design weight. I have to do some cowl measurements when I get home but I think this will be the way to go. Thanks, and sorry to highjack the thread a bit with discussion of a different engine.
