Gutaaaooo,
I've got one exactly like that, for my DL50. Got it
from Troy Built Models, and was called a Silent Beauty.
If you looked down the exhaust pipes, you could
see where the pipes went completely to the other
side of the can, and each pipe has several holes
for exhaust to exit from. More of a true muffler than
what most of our gassers come with stock.
NOT really so silent.

Yes, we used have a polished one for the DLE30, they were good but a little restrictive, cost a few hundred RPM. The black ones breath better, we may again go back to the polished ones if we can get them to be less restrictive. We will have polished ones for the DLE20 in the near future, maybe a month.

And you guys are too funny, I'll ask her if she will buy you all an engine for Xmas. I'll just have to wash the dishes and do the laundry for the rest of my life. So much for flyin', but you all have fun with your new engines!

Well, if you'll have to wash the dishes and do laundry for the rest of your life at least you'll be sleeping in the house

Hey mesaflyer,
If she'll get the engine I'll give you a hand with the dishes and laundry
I'll throw in cooking dinner for a DLE 20 combo. I'm looking at one of these:

My wife said she gets to pick out the plane for Christmas, so I said I am not into Cubs, 172's etc. So I said anything from 3DHS, Pilot, Aztech, Aeroworks, Red Aero, etc. I am really hoping she get the 3DHS 68 inch Velox since I have a -20 ready for it. It looks like the ultimate airframe for the DLE-20. It is about the same weight and wing area as the Ultra Stick I have flying the -20 on for a while now and the power is spectacular as is. I know the Ultra Stick is not that great an airframe, but it was convenient to get the DLE-20 in the air real quick. Kind of like the decent looking girl that was always available versus the super model that you don't have yet.

Anyone have thrust numbers for the master airscrew 16x8x3. My Dad and I are putting together a ESM B-25 Mitchell with DLE20's. I want to put 3 blade props on it. Saw back in the thread that there are some guys using this prop but did not see any numbers. Think that this plane would look cool with a 3 blade prop!
Thanks
Charlie

Thanks

What RPM are do you guys have your idle set at? Mine wants to die if I have it at about 1700 or so and suddenly drop the throttle to idle from 4000+ RPM. I may have some more tuning to do but right now the idle mixture is set to where there is just a slight hint of a hesitation if I suddenly crack the throttle open from idle. Setting the high speed is a bit more challenging than a glow engine. I'm using a tach and checking engine temp to see where I'm at with that. This engine only has about 20oz through it so far so I know it will get better. I'm flying it in an Edge this Friday.

Never mind...I looked back and found your earlier post about putting this in the AeroWorks Edge 540T.
That plane has a one piece wing, doesn't it?

As noted in;

...nobody as yet has any such info.
You gonna be first to post such 3-bladed prop thrust info here?

It has a two piece wing? I always thought (from what I could see on the AeroWorks site) that it was a one-piece wing, which disappointed me because I felt it would be much easier to transport if the wing was in 2 pieces. So maybe I will get this one after all!
hmmm...after looking at the Aero-Works web site, I don't see that plane...I see the .60-.90 size Extra 260 and Extra 300, but not the Edge. The only small Edge I see is the .40-.61 Edge, which I'm almost positive has a one piece wing. Does AW still sell the .60-.90 Edge?
Thanks for the info.

Talking about muffler options:
O.S. 1.20ax I thought this would be a good match, or at least possible; Not even close
(see comparison between 1.20AX header, and DLE20 muffler ports)
It is like a Minni dle 55cc.... perhaps someone could use a shrinking ray, on a dle 55cc header??
Does anyone have a header off a Evolution/MVVS 26cc header?
THis mayyyy. be very close...
I will check some specks online...
I need to have mine piped.....
It will be to loud otherwise...

I was in my local hobby shop today and they had an old stock Sig Mayhem for $175. I had been looking for a reason to buy one of these DLE 20's and now I have one. The cowl on the Mayhem is very narrow at just over 4". Does anybody know the dimension from the center line to the outside edge of the muffler?

2.260" tall @ end caps - 3.800" incl exh pipe
1.100" thick out from exh port of eng
2.050" wide @ end caps
Confirmed weight: 29.2 oz with ign. and muffler
Prop range: 14 x 10 -to- 17 X 6
Engine head is 2 3/16 wide
Soooo looks like the muffler will go through the cowl if the engine is centered on the cowl, unless you can angle the engine somehow so the muffler doesn't hit the cowl.
