RE: mintor engines

Yes my engine was kinda dry. I always lube any engine inside before I start them up. Also if you prime with fuel through the carb it should take right off and run. The settings was so close I did not change them for the first 20 heat cycles. The engine breaks in faster and more uniform doing the start-ups and let it cool downs. They cool down fast in 50-60 degree weather ! Capt,n PS I love this Mintor so far !

Mintor 22 Throttle and choke linkages.
Looking for advise on how to setup/install. The choke setup on the carb has a indent ( for lack of a better term) that locks in to
the throttle arm ( Full Choke) and releases when throttle is advanced. Thanks Joe

RE: mintor engines

On my Mintor 22cc engine the choke device worked good at first. Now that I got some running time on the engine, I cannot get to the throttle fast enough to kick open the choke. Looks like it may be a good thing to remove. Less parts to viabrate. Not needed anyway(I think) ! Capt,n

No Reply...Just a update. I now have several heat cycles (start-ups from cold) and the engine is really souunding zippy. The choke feature works again....but you got to be super-fast to blip the throttle or the engine will quit. If done right ...it will start up in choke position and keep running. I have not worked on my Aeroworks 260 at all...many things to do all the time and my left hand is not working good for working on anything touchy. Good time to get caught up on the other work. I do start my Mintor 22cc engine quite often....gotta have some pleasure !

Does anybody have a good 3 view with measurement for the Mintor 22? I have looked and searched but so far no luck finding one.

Check with Top Dawg on the Flying G. forum. You may find more there. Capt,n

Capt,n how about doing your new baby a favour and fit her with a nice light wood prop instead of that heavyweight :)

I already have a nice wood prop....I just had the APC on the engine because it was allready drilled. Will change very soon to the brand new wood prop. Best Regards Capt,n

Well I got more done on my Aeroworks Profile 260.The engine is a snug fit and it was touchy to get it right for sure. Got to pick up a few more items....one is a fuel tank of some sort Also I think I will shorten the exhaust pipe or make a shoter one on my lathe. Best Regards, Capt,n.

Just wondering if you have flown 260X/Mintor yet and if so, how well do you like it? I have about 30 flights on mine and so far, its the best performing gas engine in this size range that I've seen yet. Hope you have the same results.

I cannot hardly wait too fly it. I need too get a 8 oz clear Fourtiude gas tank and a 5 cell pack....want this one right! Capt,n P.S. The Mintor 22cc gas engine is smoother than any other gas engine I have ran. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif

RE: mintor engines

Are you going to use a single battery to power both the receiver and ignition unit, or will you use a separate battery for the ignition?

captinjohn 07-17-2012 10:34 AM

RE: mintor engines

Yes 2 batteries. One 4 cell 4.8 for ignition and one 5 cell for more power to servos. I have read over and over the ignitions last better on lower voltages. When I test run my Mintor 22cc engine, it started and ran perfect at only 4 votls even. Good enough for me! Capt,n

You will be fine with the separate 4.8 volt battery. That's what I used on my test stand. On my planes, I normally run a one 5 cell battery (for both receiver and ignition) and use 2 dropping diodes for the ignition. On this engine I had to go to 1 diode. It had a miss at 1/2 throttle and above while running at the lower voltage from the 2 diode (about 3.8 volts) setup.

I am wondering just how accurate is the RC exl tach, as when bench running my Mintor 22cc it is registering 8,100 rpm spinning a Falcon 17x6 wood prop. How does this figure compare to what you guys are getting.

Karol
79 degree temperature
700 feet ASL
60% humidity
16 x 8 APC Prop

8550 RPM before cleaning all the grass stains off the prop
8350 RPM after cleaning the grass stains off

carb is tuned correctly (not rich or lean)

I have scoliosis and a non-existant disc between L 3+4. Too much dirt bike riding many decades ago. Makes it hard to bend over to pick the airplanes up but it is well worth the effort!

You guys got me interested in the mintor 22cc! I still have the ProX260 in the box too.....:)

Looks like it has quite a different muffler bolt pattern from some of the other popluar 20cc. Think anyone will made accessory header pipes or mufflers?

Thanks,

The Mintor brand is fairly new but if and when the brand becomes as popular as I beleive it will, it's just a matter of time before goodies such as you mentioned will be available.
