Hi all,
I purchased the Evolution 10CC and installed in a Meridian.....Have run about 1 1/2 gallons through it.....runs reliably and can set the high speed needle on the ground to achieve max RPM.....however in the air I cannot get that RPM level....have tried running a little richer and leaner on the ground but no difference in the air. In fact if I lean it up on the ground it really is sluggish in the air. Running 12 x 6 prop......any suggestion ? can you give us some #'s for what your rpms are? |
Mid 12K on the ground when dialed in.......can't tell in the air.

the best I've ever seen on mine is 10.5k on the break in prop. ... My 12x6 gives me around 10k even, |

Plus one to the above poster... especially the comment about one click making a significant difference. I also found that even on the high end the low side adjustment came into play although to a lesser extent.

is it possible for this engine to go magneto ignition? Just asking.........don't jump
TAZZZZ |
Why not, if you can mill the parts required, find the correct size coil and pick-up, figure out how to mount everything and keep the weight down.

Problem with setting the needle down, if I decline the model airplane engine off, someone could help me? Following youtube video with a demonstration of the problem.

This looks to me that you low speed needle is a little rich.
Remember that hat this fuel system runs on muffler pressure and there is little pressure at idle so gravity has more effect at low muffler pressures. With this fuel system running rich will demonstrate a larger rpm difference with tank height than if it is running at a more correct setting. I would turn in you low speed needle 1/4 turn and run the engine. Check the high speed needle setting before doing you test again. Proper low speed needle setting is actually done by judging how well the engine accelerates. Judge the transition between low and high rpm. I hope this helps. If you need further help respond here. Link youtube demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaCn7OzE20I My guess is that the engine is flooding. Have you adjusted the LOW speed needle on the carburetor yet? edit: Just saw Pete posted before me...on the same page ! |
Thanks for the help, I will check the needle low and put the results. Subsequently.

I am looking for a inverted muffler for my 10gx anyone know who is making one thanks
|
Any muffler that fits an OS 46 - 55 will fit the 10gx. You should be able to find mufflers from companies such as Jtec, Bisson and SlimLine to name just a few. Tower Hobbies, Chief RC, etc. carries many of these mufflers and of course any good local hobby shop should be able to get them. Here are some links.

Read the whole thread over the past several days........overall comments seem positive. Ordered the engine Monday and should have it tomorrow. Engine will be going in a 58" Goldberg Skylark MK II and will try to fly Novice/B-Novice SPA this spring and summer.
I'm setup with gas/oil for my two IMAC planes and didn't want to jump into glow fuel and have to deal with two fuel systems. Since I don't have any glow engine experience to compare against I'm sure this engine will work very nicely for entry level pattern. |
Remember that it takes a LONG time to fully break-in because of it's ABC design. For me a gallon and a half of fuel before the low and high speed needle tuning came in . After that point the engine really came to life and the tuning setting was pretty much hands-off like a typical gasser.

Where's the Kraft nose wheel?
|
I live in Ft. Worth TX and my home club is the FW Thunderbirds. I was looking to purchase the Sunfly 4 but picked up the Skylark for $100, Futaba 3004 servos included. I'm pretty sure I will enjoy SPA so the plan will be to build something new in 2015.

Hello Pete,
It been a while since i talked to you.Don't know if you remember me talking to you,but i originally put my engine on katana 50.I wasn't really happy with the combo, cause i like over powered setups.Just recently moved evo 10 to trainer 46 plane to test some and its really impressive on 5 to 6 lb plane.I think it fits the application better. Also dropped back on prop cause of ground clearance to 11 x 6.Its really sweet with this prop, cause its so responsive.Do you see any problems running this prop all the time, cause it suits my style of flying? Craig... |
There is no problem running the 11-6 prop forever. Enjoy the engine. We found our 15Gx to be a much better match for the Katana and it's expected performance level.

Thanks Pete,
On the right plane the 10 is really strong engine and once its broken in and set right on needles, one of the best throttle reaction i have seen.I'm gonna put it on a sport plane later.I have a os 46ax and ys 53 on couple of other planes and the 10 will hold its own. Thanks for replying.....Craig.... |
