RE: Yak 55SP 2.6M converted to Turboprop!!!
the ailerons have a "live" hinge typical of most of their planes
the rudder and elevators have a 4mm alu rod supported by sturdy
phenolic posts... all of this is done at the factory..quite nice

Primer goes on...
then wet sand..then color
lots of work but the final result is worth it...
This plane will be decorated with a combination of paint+Vinyl graphics

Hey, i hear ya about building in the winter. I'm a transplant from Pa & used to do all my building in between shoveling snow from snow storms! Down here we get snow overnite & by lunchtime its in the 50s! I still try & get at least one build in over the winter months though.....Gene

In oder to make the 54TP function properly, Ihave decided to change the exhausts as shown.
This is a straight shot out of the TP so it shouldn't affect performance and it will be easy to install..
intereasting hobby this is !!!

Icalled upon my favorite surgeon Dr.DREMEL
and we consulted and then operated, preliminary installation here
I think it will be UNIQUE to say the least. Dr. Dremel says the patient will
live to fly soon (comon spring)

Thanks, I installed it by placing magnets all around outside and inside and then used
foam safe CA all around. Whan that cured, I put a bead of Areopoxy on the inside.. it is nice and tight to the frame!
The tint is TAMIYA # PS-31 "smoke" and boy it gives off a lot of fumes when applying... I had to evac

RE: Yak 55SP 2.6M converted to Turboprop!!!
When i was researching photo information for my SP-55m, i contacted the photographer that took the photos on airliners.net & told him what i was doing. He responded by sending me a 360 degree walk around set of photos & only asked that i send him pics of my finished model. Something to consider on future projects.......Gene

NICE, thanks
for this particular plane Iwasn't so much interested in 100% scale fidelity
as I was in high visibility in most cloud conditions.. I'm not entering it in any scale events
but Ijust want to wring it out and have fun...SOI made it as "Russian" themed as possible
with the correct stars, YAk logos, russian text etc.... fun stuff...
