RE: CA 31 % Build
Sling her underneath! That can does look huge sitting next to the fuse though! Can pugsley say "pitts muffler" ? I am just wondering how much of a zdz 80 would stick out the bottom of the cowl anyway, on a 31% Most of it prolly! It should be a rocket ship though.

i didn't notice the mispelling Bryan. sorry. Do you still have the royal 45?
I plan on uploading some pictures thursday night so if there are any questionable area i can show you what i done. Since the plane is ready for covering and not flown, the changes shouldn't have any effect on flight performance. i haven't changed anything that much. I would be interested in any flight reports that others might have and can contribute.
Thanks

Sam, will your cowl fit over the plugs without cutting holes? I have just procured a bme 102 and can't tell if they will go without cutting ugly holes. It looks pretty tight!
Can some one send me some thin CA? I am out!

Cap...
I sold the Cap for 2 reasons....
One, I came to the conclusion that I will never be a stellar 3D pilot. I am okay at some stuff, but could never really get everything out of the plane. So, I am trying to become a better IMAC pilot. The Cap is okay for the first couple levels, but I think it suffers after that. My opinion only. So, I think the Giles will make a better IMAC bird. Plus it was on sale, and getting the CA kit to boot allowed me to build a IMAC/3D plane for later.
Two, the Cap made IMAC practice almost impossible. Well, the Cap and I anyway....What I mean is, if I got bored or blew a maneuver, I'd throw the plane into 3D rates and "Goodbye IMAC practice, hello harrier".
So anyway, the Cap was an awesome bird, just not what I needed right now.

RE: CA 31 % Build
Gosh, I love my Cap. I put flight #60 on it last weekend, doing harriers, knife edges and inverted passes no more than 15' off the deck on a 2000' grass strip in TN. Got in some tailwheel-first landings, and even some IMAC practice. Gosh I love this Cap. I've even seen a couple bigger Caps do very well in Advanced & Unlimited IMAC. Did I mention I love my Cap? I know as I advance in IMAC, my thumbs, and not the plane will always be my limitation. I sure do love my Cap.
Sorry, Pugs - just had to rub it in a little. Maybe I'll see you at the field tomorrow. You'll recognize me - I'll be the one flying a beautiful........................

RE: CA 31 % Build
Is this coming from the same guy that wouldn't do waterfalls with his plane, but sure did them with mine? I just don't see you doing anything with your Cap at 15' off the deck. Hell, you land at 20' off the deck......
The Cap is a great plane.....I had fun with it....but I wanted something better for ME to use in IMAC. The Cap was never going to make ME happy while using it in IMAC.
Later,
Pugs

RE: CA 31 % Build
Pugs, that is why I am building the ca 34%, for an imac plane. I could use my edge or cap, but I am hoping the extra will be a little better imac platform. The problem is though, if it won't 3-d as well as the other two, it will prolly be a hanger queen! I know what you mean when you say you got bored, and then hello high rate switches!
I got some more glue today so building should continue!

RE: CA 31 % Build
some additional pics;
the gear from TNT really gives it a good lift for prop cleareance. Just tell him its for the 34%. I think TNT has a specific gear listed last time i looked for the 31%. This height is with Sullivan 4" wheels.
The elevator tabs are 4 1/2 " and i used the hinge line that was drawn on the stab.
I removed an additional 4 1/2" from the forward hatch and extended the canopy forward for a more scale apperance for a 300L.

Sam, I like your canopy mods! I am not so sure I am keen of being able to look into the plane though? Where did you get the panels? Now keep the pics coming! Have you decided on an engine? Last I heard you were going to run a bme 102?

between the wing tube and the gear plate. The canister will reside between former
two and four. By angling the engine 45 degres the manifolder will fit nicely with length
close to 22 cm, just a bit shorter than the recommended 25 - 28 cm for a ZDZ-50.
With the canister in the bottom and on one side of the fuselage there will be plenty of
room for fuel tank on top of the wing tube. Actually I'll be fitting a Sulliwan smoke pump
alongside the canister and a smoke tank next to the fuel tank.
