CA 300 SX
Is anyone out there got or considering the new CA Extra 300SX 2.6. I've crashed my old style CA 330 2.6 and was wondering how this compares.

John

The kit has moved on a long way since your 2.6 kit.
Lots of pre fab to make life easy!
Not flown one but the Comp ARF people say it's better than the old one

RE: CA 300 SX
Hey John,
I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I had two Comp-Arf 2.6 330's and crashed one this past summer. Now I'm down to one. I have other 33% planes but I love the way the CA 2.6 330 flys IMAC. I want to replace the one I crashed with the new 300SX, but I'd like to hear from someone who has actually flown one to see how they perform. Anyone out there flown one yet?
Steve

Hi Steve,
I havent flown one, in fact Im not sure anyone in the states has, maybe someone over seas can chime in?
These SX's will no doubt fly better than the Blade Spar 2.6 Extra, Lighter, less mixing ext...
I have owned 2 blade spars, and Loved each one! Cant imagine anything flying better but according to the Boss they DO!

Darcy,
How does the 2.6 Yak fare against the 2.6 Extra? I've had the pleasure of flying a friends 23-24 pound 2.6 Extra with a 110. In the next couple of days I'm looking to drop on the Yak and I'm wondering how they compare in the 3D department. I'm planning on a BME 115 for mine.

I think the 2.6 Yak is the Truest plane in the 100cc department, very little mixing and excells at snaps.
In the 3D arena most will say its not the top pick, but I have time on this plane and it DOES EVERYTHING with Ease, the only Manuever you have to work at is the High Alpha, it just takes a bit more control with the ailerons to keep the wings level. But like any plane there is a sweet spot, its up to you to find it.
I would say go for it, you wont be sorry...

Darcy,
Thanks for the background on the Yak. Your input helped finalaize the decision, and the offline communications have been most appreciated. What often makes the difference between a buy or no buy decision is the service, and you have been extremely helpful in that area.
Thanks again,
Pat

Thanks,
I hear I now have the second to the last 2.6 Fantasy Yak in this shipment. I'm sure glad I didn't procrastinate any longer!! Truly, I appreciate the help, especially working through my partner since I'm not in a geographical position to do it myself at the moment.
Ya know I'm not going to hear the end of this in not flying my usual brand Gotta do different things from time to time.

RE: CA 300 SX
I now have about 30 flights on my Patty Wagstaff Comp Arf 300sx and love this plane. Engine is now run in and I am starting to have fun with it. Slow flying characteristics are just awesome. It harriers beatifully and hovers with ease.
I Flew my dads super extra 3 days ago which is only the 2nd giant scale I have ever flown. My 300sx being the first. I was pleased to find out the bigger super extra felt very similar to the 2.6 300sx in almost every way. The 300sx has much less knife edge coupling however. Put it this way I felt no desire to run out and buy a bigger model after flying the comp Arf Super Extra vs the 300sx.
The painted spinner arrived last week which I now need to cut and install to replace the carbon fiber one on it now.
Here are some detailed pics of my build and radio gear installation.

Looks awesome Chris! This is my first choice for my next plane. I would love to have a nice cockpit and patty pilot, also not sure what it would cost, but would like to not have cirus 4 times on it!~). Your review says a lot!

RE: CA 300 SX
Well at last the weather has been kind and I've managed to fly my 300SX. It's everything I've come to expect from Comp-arf, very precise, very manoeuverable and yet easy to fly. the video is only its second flight so I'm still dialling it in. Its hard to directly compare it with my previous 2.6 Extra, because a few months have now passed, and the 2.6 was indeed a fine machine, but the 300Sx flys lighter and has slightly less coupling. the only area that has more coupling is with engine side thrust. I have had to add more right thrust and throttle to rudder mixing to achieve straight verticle lines. I am running a DA100 engine on Zimmerman exhausts and 28x10 Biela prop. the combination is quieter and smoother than the previous K&S and Mejlik combination.
I've now had 10 flights with it and it just gets better....and it looks great.

RE: CA 300 SX
Nice!!! Thanks John. Although I like the "Patty" more, I decided on the "Futaba" scheme and ordered my 2.6 300SX last week. After looking at the pics of your plane, I first decided on Patty's, but we've got about 8 other guys out here that fly Extra's with that same scheme, so I went with the Futaba paint job. It should be here tomorrow! This is my third 2.6 CompArf, so it shouldn't take too long to throw together, but it's up to weather when I'll get to fly it and I'm in Alaska.
