Agree with Phantom.
No need for dual servos. The ailerons on Comp-Arf planes are very stiff.
Personally, I wouldn't use the Emcotec unit either. I don't see the need for this on airplanes under 33%.
Skipping dual servos, matchboxes and a Emcotec unit will save you a lot of weight.

Before I sold mine, it had single seros on all surfaces. Only HiTec Digitals.
I used a Powerbox Sensor switch with built-in regulator for 2 lithium batteries. Great little unit!

The ZDZ engine should fly this plane very well! I had a 3W 75i, and it was a good combo!

Mine started life on the Da50 on the mini-pipe and though it flew fine for IMAC it left no room for error. I have since installed a 3W70iUS and it's way better

I'm just a tad over 20 using that engine, the same pipe, JR8611a's on everything and only one servo per aileron. I use Fromeco 4800 on the receiver and Fromeco 2400 on the ignition.

At this weight it still lands really slow, is nice and quiet and it has all the power I need. I just took 2nd place in Basic with it this past weekend and never really needed much past 1/2 throttle for the uplines. With the Da50 I needed full power to get the same upline which caused me to have loads of right thrust.

This is a very nice plane for those lunchtime flights as it takes about 10 minutes to assemble at the field and this engine needs only to be choked once and no choke after that and it fires on the first flight once it has flown once

You chaps have ruined my day, I had just decided to get the new 2.1 Comp Arf for my MVVS 45 and then found this thread, I was in two minds wheather to change the MVVS 58 Pro in my Yak for the 45 as it is balistic with the 58 in it and just does not need the power, and now you chaps are saying you are flying the 2.3 with the equivialnt of my 45 I just can't win. Now I don't know what too do? [sm=drowning.gif]

EDIT: I supose after reading the last report by bubba its got to be all change put the 45 in the Yak and the 58 in a 2.3 now what colour? [sm=confused.gif]

Go for the 2.1 meter. IMHO, you really need more power than a fifty in the 2.3 meter.

That's why I said I would probably use the 58Pro it pulls a 22x10 at 6500rpm running very rich, because it will overspeed if I let it, can't get a bigger prop on due to the Lack or ground clearance. That reminds me how much ground clearance does the 2.3 have?

Looking logically ahead I wonder when the 2.3 will be revised to bring it in line with the new 2.1? perhaps answering my own question I will go for the 2.1 and put the 45 in it, there decision made now I have to wait for the rep to come back to me, its been four days so far.

Thanks for that, but as I said I think I am going to go for the new 2.1 and put the 45 in it, that should satisfy me for a little while anyway. I know the 2.3 will come along eventually especially if they update it.

I just ordered the 2.3 meter Extra, and have a 3W 75i that will go on the nose. I noticed that you have the same combination. Do you have any pictures of the engine mount or any build suggestions from your experience? How did the CG work out?

Mine came out sligtly nose heavy, but that can easily be fixed during the build. Mine was built for the 3W 50i, but it wasn't enough power in my opinion. The 75 was perfect. Your problem will be the canister fit. I used the canister from the 50, but that's not recommended. It's just too small for a 75cc engine, and the power will suffer from it.
I will check if I can find the pictures from the engine install.

Thanks... I may just run a Pitts to avoid the problem. I thought it might be a little tight for a 75 sized canister. Luckily, we don't have noise restrictions at the field.

Hey Guys, Great thread and it's making me drool LOL Anyway I am thinking of upgrading to the 2.3m from the 2.12m that I have on back order and thinking of selling my da-50. and my question is, what do you guys think of the new DA-85 for powering the 2.3? I know it would probably be overkill power wise but would it balance with it? and will it fit in the cowl without having to hack it up? The reason I'm thinking of the DA-85 is I plan on getting a 2.6 Yak here in the next year and a half or so and from what I've been told the 85 will fly the 2.6m Yak pretty good. So I want a package that I can put into the 2.3 and then transfer to the 2.6m Yak without having to buy another engine ETC ETC....

The 85 would work on the Yak only if you can keep the weight of everything else down. I haven't weighed mine yet but using a BME 115 and making carbon brackets for everything to be mounted and most would still be hard pressed to get below 24 pounds. Keep in mind that the 85 weighs even more than the 115.
