RE: 2 Blade or 3 Blade
It's been my experience that a 2 blade out performs a 3 blade in terms of perceived "oomph", especially when hovering or going vertical. The program "ThrustHP" that calculates static thrust for various props at a given RPM seems to bare (bear?) this out.
A 3-blade is quieter and is usually more than adequate for any modern, light-weight ship that is overpowered (like most of the 3D beasts out there today), and will earn you points for "quietness" in IMAC (or not be penalized for being too loud). Then again, I've seen (and heard) quiet 2-blades as well, but those tend to be exception rather than the rule.
I know these props aren't exactly cheap (especially the composites), but do what 90% of the pilots out there do - try both on the same ship and use the one YOU like best.
Happy New Year!

Hard to go wrong with a Mejzlik 27x10 or 28x10 for both imac and 3d, or a PT 27x10 which will pull hard and yet still be a bit more quiet than the mejzlik, which with good throttle control the 27x10 or 28x10 mejzlik will still get you decent sound scores. I am not a fan of 3 blades on anything smaller than 150cc engines.

If I use a 3 blade which blade needs to point towards the ground when hitting compression?

Mejzlik 27x10 for IMAC, because it pulls well and is not too noisy if you use throttle control in level flight. A Mejzlik 25x12 3-blade is a quieter alternative, but a lot less vertical thrust. If your plane weighs 29 lbs, the 3-blade will be doggy on hot days - expect around 5800 rpm on the ground. A Menz-S 27x10 is another alternative, pulls about the same as the Mejzlik 27x10, but will be louder. Spool up on any wooden prop makes them better for 3D. Prop pull won't be critical in Basic or Sportsman classes of IMAC.
