Here is what David said . Guy's,
We've figured out what happened - someone turned on (accidentally I hope).
We duplicated the exact scenario.
When you have a radio (JR10X) on and working, and add another radio on the same channel, at a reasonable distance away (to where it won't immediately swamp the original) and slowly bring the 2nd radio closer, once within range, the 1st radio goes into about 1/2 stick of down elevator before going into hold/failsafe. It's probably less than a second of input in the down elevator before holding.
If you do this and the 2nd radio is close by and swamps the signal, it goes into hold/failsafe immediately (without the down elevator).
What I'm imagining is that I flew into the 2nd radio signal somehow, and being so low, coupled with the speed, there was no room to fly out of it, even with the strong signal strength of the JR.
As far as the ebay deal, c'mon, you guys have waaaay too much time to analyze all of this.
So what did I learn out of this? Hmmmm, fly inverted low passes from now on and fly on 2.4!

Absolutely incorrect... you have no choice at all...
You MUST have them all!

Hey JR John, do you have a pic of those custom stand offs you had made? What do they weigh, how much did they cost? I need a 3 inch pair.

Rich, here is a couple of pictures of my custom 3'' DA/DL-50 standoffs and alluminum backwashers. I took the DA design and made it better. First of all they are hollow so they are liter. Second, they have a larger base .900 inch. This large base is a must when your mounting to a soft ply firewall. Third, both ends are taped for 10-32 bolts, instead of just the engine end. This makes the complete assembly liter. I would assume most guys using the DA mounts are putting a steel fender washer under each standoff to spread out the load, then another on the back side of the firewall. Thats 8 steel washers, plus four 1/4-20 steel bolts and four 10-32 bolts. Thats a lot of weight! Forth, All inside corners are radiused for extra strength.
Weight savings is over an ounce. DA's standoffs are made for the 50-150 cc engines. I assume thats why they use a 1/4-20 bolt to hold the big powerful 150 in place.

Richard, Just for fun I went out to the shop and weighed four 3'' DA standoffs including eight 1'' fender washers, four 1/4-20 bolts and four 10-32 bolts. Total weight is a stunning 6.2 ounces. My standoffs complete with conical alluminum backwashers and Eight 10-32 bolts comes to 4.4 ounces. I had no idea there was that much of a difference.

John - it's the 1" steel fender washers that are bringing that weight up. I just weighed eight 1.25" fender washers (all i have here) on a $150 digital postage scale... 2.5 ounces!
If you use a hole saw you can make your own aluminum washers and save weight...for free.

Here's a couple examples. Yes you can make your own homemade alluminum washers out of alluminum with a hole saw. However because of the inherient weakness of alluminum VS steel, you will need to make the alluminum washers 3 times thicker than the steel washer or it will cup when tightened down on lite ply. Now you just added some of that weight savings back. Remember that big 1/4-20 steel bolt on the DA standoff that I don't like? Its needs to be longer than before because of that thick backwasher thus adding more weight.
Thats just for the back of the firewall, now lets put that thick alluminum washer under the standoff. Again it's thick so you added some weight savings back, you need an even longer 1/4-20 bolt (more weight) and finally the poisen dart.. You just pushed your engine out further than the desired 3 inches.

Well, I'm not a rocket scientist but if you can cup a 1/8" aluminum washer I think you need to back down on your torque wrench a bit. The prop washer on my BME 102 was aluminum. There's simpler ways to save an ounce, but I'm not sure it matters. If you have the means to make custom stand offs then that is cool. You could also drill and peg around the holes and not have to worry about compression.
Anyway - makes no difference for me. I'm using a B60.

Nope, the fender washers are 1/16" and I actually have cupped those in the past.

My homemade alluminum washers on my 87 in EF Yak with over 150 flights on it are not cuped out 1/6 in alluminum . The stand off covers most of the washer on the front alot E-Zer and cheaper than making a whole new standoff . I do like your back washers they are nice .

On my 87in yes they are 1/6 and no they are not cupping It does have a better firewall real plywood . On my 88in their is a little cupping on the back thats why I like your back washers but the front is fine and my washers are almost 1 in. on the front and they wont cup unless I put 200 lbs of tork on them and thay ant going to happen .lol
