Hi Guys,

What length standoffs are you using for DA /DL install?

Thanks
I used 3", tried tp get weight as far forward as possible. Useing a KS1060 pipe on
DA-50 makes for a very tail heavy Yak plus you have a little less overlap cowl to hatch and it's
easier to get the hatch on & off with a lot less wear on the hatch.
I have a DA50 mounted on 2.5" standoffs and with MTW tuned pipe and no problem with positive CG. The 15 ozs of servo batts are positioned just in front of the fuel tank and ignition batt is at front side of engine box. Holding the black and yellow scheme on the silver line - the nose falls forward. Far from "a very tail heavy Yak ".
Strange how we seem to achieve different results with very similar setups!
I also use the 2.5" with the 1060 and header and also didnt have a very tail heavy Yak. I put all the Batteries and regs on the motor box as well as the ignition modual. Mine balanced perfect on the wingtube,it did 3d and IMAC nicely there..

I also have the cowl overlap by the required 3/4" past the first former..

What servos are you using in the tail?
Maybe the wood was a little heavier in the tail of yours?

Rennie for President! Too bad I don't live in Orlando anymore!

Richard. I flew my Ultra R/C Giles 202 with the A123 setup from Ebay and my Spektrum radio that dumped my EF Yak. Didn't get to measure voltage or mah after flying tonight due to an expedited departure from the field related to darkness. I'll do a check later when I have time to observe the charge. No radio issues, though, and that's a good thing. I'll wait a little while before putting it back in my EF, though. Right now I'm happy with the A123's from the Ebay guy. Can't complain.

I'm using 5955 all arround, all the equipment is way up front. I used the 45 upline roll inverted to establish balance point.

Glad to hear it. I finally got my Thunder Power TP1010C uploaded with the new A123 firmware. BTW this charger can go up t 10 amps and now can do A123, Lipo. Liion, NIMH and Nicad fully programmable...I am liking it.

I had let my battery run down to 6.46 volts and then recharged to 6.82 (standard programming) and put just over 2100 mAh back in. So one might fathom two more flights left in it at that voltage. I think that I will stay with a stop at 6.4 volts before going airborne. I lost track this time but think I had put over 10-10-15 min flights on that battery before recharging.

A123's are good for me, I might have to look at running a single A123 on my ignition (G-62 lite) just for comparable capacity and charge times.

Rennie, I wish I could get out of the family obligations this weekend but sadly will not be able to make it. I hope the weather holds for you, there is supposed to be a low forming in the Gulf. [:'(]

Guys, here is a tast of what you (and I) will be missing.

So, what is the recommened cut-off voltage when charging the A123 cells? I was planning to use my triton closely monitored until I was able to pick up the dedicated charger for these batteries.

The manufacturere says to charge them to 3.6 v per cell which would be 7.2 v for the cutoff. I have been running my 2 cell A123 beween 6.7 and 6.8 volts total to keep the voltage similar to what I was getting with my 5 cell Nimh's. If I am not mistaken they can handle up to 4.2 v per cell on ocassion and still go on with a long battery life. Once you get a flight or two in there they quickly will come down to about 6.6 or so and then hang in there flight after flight down to 6.4 for me.

Here is an info page on mfg website

Guy's not to change the subject because i think i am going with the a123 power, also the more info the better. but i just got the MTW tune pipe from DA,(1060's out of stock) and started to install it, other than being a FREAKING base ball bat. i know it is a little less weight than the KS 1060 and smaller dia. how's the performance on this thing any thoughts good or bad.
ENJOY!

Performance is awesome with this on the 88 yak, and 12 inch header i think

its not too peaky and the pullout on the 23x8 is brilliant.

you wont be disapointed.

We've had the 88 yak on a smoke system with this setup and it didnt feel like it had taken on any more weight!

Don't the yaks look more purty by the pool[8D]

Mark I think all that detail work added at least XXX ounces to your plane. Still looks cute chubby! I can't wait to see it fly.

Aww, Come on Richard! The extended pooter tube, nose job and those lead batts you sent me are the only real weight consequences this chubby pumpkin has ! Oh, I forgot my most sexy and decadent REMOTE CONTROLLED choke servo.

By the water is a nice touch (it actually was the first time assembled totally for establishing CG. Told you I'm getting close!
Still thinking of doing the maiden with you guys in Daytona too! Sorry shame too you can't make the Flyin' Hawaiian's gig this Sat!

TW,i sure like the louver plate looks great! sense we will never run in to each other i am going to steal that idea from you.just got the MTW pipe installed lastnight, god that thing is long, but i think i may need it for balance.use the DIY header kit from DA works good.could not get any response from ES composites or Mueller header? you know with DA someone always picks the phone up and knows what you need!
ENJOY!
