yeah i am trying to get this baby on order from talking with Karl.
Are we dealing with a 25mm drop? anyone know Brison 3.2 engine
no down thurst and 2 to 2.5 of right thrust?
I think he told me the header is 8.5 inches....

That SuperReg with the two 2400mah Fromeco batts will give you 15-20 flights without recharging. When I first started using that system, I thought somthing was wrong with my volt meter because the voltage would hardly drop at all after 3-4 flights. Intially, I was charging the batts more than I needed to because they would take only 300-500mah, then after talking to Fromeco they assured me it was ok to bring their batts to 7.0vlts under a one amp load. When operating one 2400mah with five Hitec Digitals on my CHTV, I can get 8-10 hard huckin flights without recharging. My glow flyin, NiMh using buds are just amazed at how little I bring with me to the field-airplane, gas can, transmitter and oh yes, volt meter. I still check it after every flight. [8D]

I can't say about the Brisson but the 25mm drop looks good on the Zenoah and also did work on the DA. If it is too low (oriented to the picture) your header will give heat to the throttle servo....if used.. and if too high your pipe will touch the gear box inside the tunnel. I hope this helps.

Looks very clean , RD. Did that spun alum cup mount come from the 62 lite conversion??
I like the fact that is no flex pipe on it.

I think it does have the flex section.... the milled aluminum cupmount is RCIGn' work when he convertes the G62... that cup mount ALSO encases the igntion systme... so there's no concern with mounting the ignition...

Yes a flex in the pipe. One reason to look into the custom aluminum. Guess I will wait until it has been run.
Mostly I think I want a custom pipe so it will have the correct flange on it to match perfectly
(I hope) the exhaust port. I know from the full scale stuff (cars too) that a smooth exit with nothing making turbulence does add power.
I do like the cup mount. The holes for mounting the engine to the firewall are threaded... no extra grams for nuts and washers. :-)

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
Does anyone know a source of a titanium bolt I could use to replace my prop bolt?
I know that it only weighs 35 grams or about 1.3 oz. Mostly I am looking to shave weight from the front where I am already heaver than the Brielli by a couple oz. I would splurge for one if it came in at 1/2 oz or so. Also I don't think I will need it tapped for a spinner bolt. It does need the shaft or unthreaded portion where it will mount on the prop, I guess.

You asked... you shall receive...
Photos with both the QQ 86" and the EF 88" in them...
The nose to nose show the best "size comparison" because they have the sane perpective...
The second shot would naturally show the EF SOME larger because it's in the foreground...
In person it's easy to see the 88" present larger.
Both of these planes a VERY well made, qulaity from the the beginning to the end and I'm luckand happy to have both.

Guess I will keep looking. I didn't see any metric there. The bolt length: 2" (50mm) shaft 10mm thread (do I count threads per inch or cm or what?
{Edit the overall bolt length that I have is 2 1/4 and this penetrates the engine shaft by just 7/16}
I see the site has the HBTT-3816-32 #3/8-16 2" for $11.30. Not quite metric, don't know if it will fit. Guess I will keep looking.[]

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
Metric threads have a pitch (threads per inch) as well but they are listed in metric terms, 1.00, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2.00. I've machined metric threads as fine as .05 and as course as 3.0. I think the common size in 10 mm is 1.25 fine thread and 1.5 course thread.
A 10 - 1.5 x 50 metric bolt would look and measure very similar to a 3/8 - 16 x 2.

DOh... my bad... wasn't thinking about the 10mm...
Try here:
http://www.yoyodyneti.com/ProductInf...ductid=10.40FD
or here:
(oh gosh the name) http://www.tastynuts.com
Seems there are a lot of UK companies with these type bolts... the tops of the bolts are countersunk but shoould still me able to be tapped...
Do a google search for 10mm titanium bolt or M10 titanium bolt

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
nice pics dave, after looking at the specs again and measuring my 2.3 comp arf, it will look about the same size, actually longer, mine is 83" from spinner to rudder tip, 90" span, so this yak is longer, just a tad less wing(2" off the span) but 4-5lbs lighter, my copmarf is 21&1/4 with a zdz80, this yak with a b60 at or around 17lbs is wonderful for the appearance in size it will have and wing loading i assume...i think i am sold!!! just have to wait for permission, so i may be on the may shipment by the time i order, but will get one eventually, you guys can work out all the kinks(if any), and give flight reports and by then i will know what thrust, cg, and any other kind of mods i may need to do...thanks for the pics and your help dave, nice guy...must be the name, dave

Richard,
Please do... I might be willing to get a couple in with your order...
Dave,
You SHOULD call and get in on the shipment in a couple weeks... EVEN if you are moving... Chris will hold it a couple weeks til you get moved. AND it'll be a couple weeks before you have to come up with the "OkeyDokey" from the Missus and need to plop it on some plastic... (Or dig some of that gold up you got hid in your backyard)

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
i wish there was gold out there, only if our 3 pomeraniens terds were worth something...i'd be loaded, i did talk to chris, he said he may have 1 or 2 if i ordered after settlement(next week), he said some people cancel and stuff like that, i dont know why, once i place an order i am in for the long run. i may try and sneak a layaway thing in with chris and not tell my wife[X(], would be hell to pay eventually, but someone once said, "its easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission." may have to put that to the test soon...anyway, sooner or later i will get one, then i can see how the different motors stack up as well, i like the brellelli on paper as far as wieght and things, but i am very fond of zdz's, so will be nice to hear reports from a zdz60 set up as well...got to start more packing, talk later....will be day dreaming of flying the entire time..

49.5" is from where the tail wheel comes off the fuse and the very back edge of the gear
51.5" is to the FRONT edge of the gear...

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
99% percent finished. Just need to go over everything and double check. I did end up installing the faux grill in the cowl for cooling and it looks pretty good. 16lbs 13.8oz with my lightest wheels (2.9oz pair) 17 lbs 1.4oz with the Sullivans, DA-50 with stock muffler, (5) 5955 (1) 5625, Fromeco 4 cell and reg. on RX, 900 lion on Ign., 20oz tank, steel wing bolts (for insurance), 4" carbon spinner and PT prop. Not sure how the wheels will hold up to pavement but I have the Sullivans to replace them if need be and they are about 6.5 oz total. This battery placement puts the CG right on the center of the wingtube.

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
It looks like it could be done but would take some work. The landing gear plate is sticking up about 7/8" approx in there and the tunnel is balsa and would need extra support to strap it to adding weight and a lot of time. The stock location is perfect though with the hold down tabs. Makes for a nice neat install. The tank is so close to the cg it will change very little from full to empty
