On to my second one now, the first one went into a nosedive due to the reciever just died from an altitude of about 100 feet. It flew great so I had to get another one. I cannot understand why H9 discontinued this aircraft.

Ok I am bringing this thread back from the dead. I just picked one up new NIB from an unlikely source. I had one when they came out with a fuji 64. This one should be awesome with my new DA 50. Before I pick a muffler does anyone know if the stock DA muffler will fit in the cowl, or do I need a pitts? Also does anyone remember what standoffs they used. My calculations are showing I ne 1 3/4" standoofs, any help or poking of snide coments "rattbelly" would be greatly appreciated. I have read of at least 2 other guys who also found new ones so feel free to pipe up if you find anything.

I am using the stock BME muffler on the 44 in mine. I also have a DA50 in another plane w/ slimline pitts muffler and will comment that on this plane it is not worth the expense. You might want to research the dimensions and see if it will fit due to the shape of the motor box. The size of the cowl on the CAP does a good job of hiding the stock BME muffler.

I'd forgotten that I still have mine. NIB, untouched.

Got one of rcign's lightened G62s on hand to power it with.

I need to pull my thumb out and build something.

I had to do surgery on my firewall to accomodate the pitts muffler on my Brison 3.2. Glad I did though! I still really like this plane!

Mine's pretty heavy at 16 and 1/2 lbs. Between the firewall mod (added some extra bracing after surgery), the pilot figure, and wheel pants, I think I gained about 3/4 lb. It flys great now and I'll bet it would be awesome at 15 lbs.!

I told my buddy I was shooting for 14 pounds but it looks like the only way to get that weight is to omitt the engine. I am trying to go light however. I have carbon gear and may scrap the wheel pants. I may try and dig the foam out and cut out the cockpit floor. Hopefully I dont lose to much structural wise.

I put my first flight in today w/ the BME 44. Except for it being tail [X(] heavy @ 6 1/2", everything went ok. I do not know how much it weighs but with the BME 44 it is unlimited. Swings a BME 20X8 prop, single 1950 ma 6v nimh on receiver, 1100 ma 4.8v on ignition, no choke servo, 8321's on ail & el, 8411 on rudder, and only a 14 oz tank. Plane built as per instructions with no additional mods (except for fixin a broken wing rib). My TOC YAk w/DA 50 does not have this much performance (hope I don't get bashed).

budgetdude, my friends can't believe how much of a bargain the airframe was. Good luck w/ yours.

jon595, My C.G. is set at 6 an 11/32 or about 6 and 3/8ths and it flys great and doesn't exhibit any bad tendencies. I do have my elevator throw dialed back a bit though. I think on low rates I only have about 5/8" throw up and down. I remember some guys saying 1/2" on low rates was ideal.

Anyone running a S.T. 3250 on theirs? I had a 2300 in it and swapped it out for the bigger tigger.

Oh sure, now everyone knows I have an unbuilt airmadillo. There will be a H9 Cap zooming through the ozarks very soon, even if I have to tie it to my car.
