The throttle servo mounts on the undercarriage cross pieces.
The ignition could go on the firewall next to the motor. Waiting to see C of G yet

The weight quoted for this model seems like its a bit on the porky side compared to the 2.1 extra.
Any chance on making weight savings and getting it under 7kilo?
Nice looking plane!

I don't think you'll get it under 7kg. Although it's a 2.1 model it's bigger than the 2.1 extra as the wing cord/thickness etc is greater. Carbon legs are longer, tunnel for pipe it all adds up.

Hi,
Anyone know what the box dimensions are and what it weighs as I was thinking of asking a friend to carry one for me over from the US...
Cheers...

I have plans to purchase one of those beauties but before I do I would like to know the diameter of the pipe-tunnel. According to the manual, the pipe-tunnel can be modified to handle a long pipe as well. I intend to use my 3W60 Heindel with a KS tuned pipe. See pic.
The diameter of the pipe is 60mm. Could you send information regarding what diameter the pipe tunnel can handle? Thanks in advance.
Here you can find a small movie of my 3W60 in the test bench! =>[link=http://robban.net/movies/3w60_01.mp4]3W60 test run[/link]
Regarding some others discussions I have seen here regarding the wing area I can just say the following. I have a CAP 232 (2080mm) with a weight of 8.5kg and it flies great. The wing area of the YAK is 10% greater so I have the feeling that if the YAK ends up just beetween 7.5-8kg this should not be a problem at all.
Now I'm curious to see more pictures and information regarding the building instead of argues around colors...

Sorry, I've been waiting for a header, the model is finished less fitting the exhaust.
The final header turned up last week while i was in Germany on business, I'll fit it this week and hopefully maiden this coming weekend.
I have had a side/rear header made for this aeroplane and it took me three attempts to get it right!

Hi guys
Now a have placed an order on the YAK-55. According to C-ARF it will be delivered in the end of May. I will keep you updated regarding the building when I receive the YAK.
Dave, we are really looking forward to hear about your maiden flight. Take some pics and if you have the possibility, a short movie.

RE: NEW Composite YAK 55 2.12m DA 50
Hi Paul
Well, I started in this crazy business in 1978 and at that time the models from Prettner, Kato and Matt where still very popular. I've had most of the models from these guys, Curare, Blue Angels, Atlas and so on. I still have a very big passion for those old F3A models. They flies great and are great eye catchers at the field. Many of the "rookies" are quite impressed when I get my Curare in the air and retracts the gears. Lovely!!
So, from time to time I take my "oldie" to the field. But the reason why I ended up in this thread is because I started to compete in IMAC here in Sweden last year and got really bitten. I flew with an Extra 300 from CA Models (24%) with a Saito 150 and now I want to "upgrade" myself a little.

Wingburn,
Did they give you a ship date?
I have a quote to order one (Bob Shapiro?), but I sent a e-mail asking him for the approx ship date and he has not responded. It has been about 1 week. I did not want to give them my cash without more info on a ship date. they were fast with the quote, but not with more info. Sometimes these things drag out later than they plan. Let me know your thoughts.
Thx,
Kregg

RE: NEW Composite YAK 55 2.12m DA 50
Kregg, i ordered mine through Ray Labonte about a week ago..I asked for the blue scheme and he told me he had a couple available and they should arrive on or about Mar. 12th.
I actually just commited yesterday on mine and the reply from Comp-Arf on the invoice was that they were in transit ...So hopefully that means i'm getting the one i ordered
That's all i know for now...I didn't ask about the red scheme as an alternative in case the blues were sold out though..Maybe a person should have.
Jack
P.S. Hope this means you'll have a virtual cockpit for these

RE: NEW Composite YAK 55 2.12m DA 50
Hi Robert, thanks for the info..I had read the manual, but i also see they use about 10mm worth of washers..
My question is though,is those that have a DA 50 mounted, what is the distance between the carb and firewall once mounted as i would like to use an engine that is 10 to 20mm longer without having to cut a hole in the firewall...It also may be possible i guess to have the engine stick out past the cowl a bit further being it's a Yak.
Thanks
Jack

Jack,
I will have a Virtual Cockpit for it sooner or later. If I order one then it will be sooner. If not you will need to make templates for me and I will set you up.
Thx,
Kregg

Guys
I've been on a real go slow working 12 hour days, so the YAK progress really slowed.
I'll photo the install tonight. There is around 22-25mm gap..I still opened up the bulkhead with a 30mm hole

How easy are they Dave?
Is it prebuilt to the same degree as the 2.1 Extra?
