Hello,
I have a US 41 on my Great planes 1/3 scale Pitts. The problem is when I am flying, the engine will skip a beat. This does not happen on the ground and not on every flight. It does not die, just skip. I would be thankful for any suggestions that you may have.

I agree , . If you just have the carb; opening inside the cowl this can happen . I always put a hole in cowl & have an intake extension , ram air ?witha 45 degree cut to force air into carb; from outside of cowl . Never a problem . If you are just intaking to carb; on inside cowl . all kinds of air happens .

You are both correct, the air intake points at the side of the cowl with no hole in the cowl. I thought there would be enought pressure to force air in. I will cut a hole and see if I can find something to point foward on the carb.
Thank a bunch!

Bob,
Inspect you kill switch wiring. If the wire comes in contact with an engine cooling fin, it will burn through the insulation and coil grounding can result.

I have a solution!!! I had a U.S. 41 on my Giant Aeromaster. The same thing happened to me. Use a velocity stack. Click on this link to order it from Tower Hobbies
