Default FUT S9156 and S9157 Servos

The info on the Futaba S9157 servo does not include any specs for 4.8 V .... only for 6 V. I will be using a regulator/powerbox which delivers 5.1 V. Does the S9157 need 6 V ? This servo is also labeled as 'New' on the Futaba website. Wondering if any problems with it have surfaced ? I was planning to just go with the S9156 ..... until I saw the S9157. Thanks. Bob

Both have same "operating voltage", although there are no specs to be found for 4,8V on the 9157. I doubt it MUST have 6 Volt

Higher voltage = higher torque and faster speed.
Why do you want a high torque servo, only to weaken it (and slow the speed) with lower voltage?
I suspect Futaba didn't give a 4.8v spec because they didn't expect anyone to use these servos at lower than 6v.
You should use 6v.

I don't know which regulator/powerbox you're talking about, but maybe you're confused. A powerbox usually regulates voltage to the rx to about 5v, but supplies high voltage to the servos.

I agree with Jim. No reason not to run them at higher voltages. I think Futaba servos are hard to beat. I'm running the 9156's on one plane and they're super smooth.
