No sir, not that hinge. It look's as though the linkage would have to be very close the abutting surfaces which most if our frames would be tight. There is a guy whom make's a rotory link to a servo that operates the control surface in the same manner. I tried his on a corsair and it was a nightmare, if they were not perfectly angled and aligned it would bind badly. I'll stick with traditional hinging and control rods.

After posting the hinge's being glued in this morning I figured being they need two hours to cure I would run to a friends. The run was to pick up the clear coat and some fine line, I really figured I would be back in two hours. But somehow it turned into five, then a neighbor asked if I would lift his cattle trailer with my tractor so he could fix the tongue jack. I finally got back to the covering about 6:30. The ele's are covered, next up the stab's.

And one stab covered. That's going to be it for the night, with the wife being gone overnight I can get right on it first thing in the morning.

Robert, I hate being a pest but how did you prevent the Gorilla Glue from expanding into the movable part of the hinge? Dan.

These hinges are tapered, so sliding the hinge in squeezes the glue rearward. The hinge then fits tight at the front so it did not expand out there. But boy oh boy did it go out the back.

The other stab and the fin are covered. Doing this without the pink tapes requires a lot more care on the perimeter and cut, much slower than I had anticipated.

And here is what probably will be the easiest part of the covering job, the rudder servo fuse hatch.

Is that easy as in easy or easy compared to everything else you have to cover?

Easy compared to everything else.
I have the fuse prepped and the pieces cut, but, it is up to 90° in here. So, I am calling it a day, closing up the windows, and turning the A/C on. The wife went in early today and will be home early, so there will not be any evening work, maybe.

Yes it does! You know looking at this picture with no tail surfaces or wings installed and really does look like a Bulldog!

The fuse is covered. Before I can shrink the covering fully I have to tie the fabric to the fin's bottom rib. Being I have no fabric tape, thread, or even a needle I will have to stop and go get it. I want the fuse finished so as to put the bottom wing on and check the fit, it may be to tight and require sanding which before I cover it.

Don't forget to hide a tacky comment inside where he can't see about his favorite sports team. UT purchased a trailer to hyaul Bevo their from an Oklahoma company and supposedly it has OU all over hidden inside.

Hi Rob,

I'm still here...barely have time to look at the pics at the end of the night. The last few weeks have been a beast. All work and no play makes( Squirrely) a dull boy and a little nutty.
It's really turning out Great! If you could see me now...Smiling from ear to ear!
About that Florida heat and humidity, 91° in a room is called a sauna. Ha ha.

Thanks Bud,
Jeff

I posted this on GSN yesterday but forgot to post it here.
Not much to note on the build. Where the ailerons butt the wing there is a pocket created by overhanging balsa. Last Thursday I told myself to not to forget to secure those Friday. Well, just as I was prepping for starting the covering I realized I had forgot them. So I had to run and get some micro balloons to thicken up epoxy enough to make a fillet. When I got back with the balloons I got a call and had to run to the south home. I did have time once returning to get the fillets in so covering will continue tomorrow.

All those pockets have been secured, an epoxy filet creating a contour on the inside corner. On my Pitts the shrinking of the fabric caused this balsa overhang to curl, that was another part of the recover fixes. Shortly I will be covering the first half and will post it when complete.

Rob,
Those are the kind of things a person does who takes pride in their work and you can always count on. I know you have lots to do on the plane and around the house so try not to go too crazy!! A little nutty is ok...as long as you can still keep it together.

Thanks Bud,
Jeff
