Weather was awesome today it could be any better for the first week in Spring. As a result of the nice weather with calm winds, I ventured out to the filed to have my Cessna flown and filmed. I had a seasoned pilot at my local field fly her and put her through a battery of flight tests. Weighing in at just over 26 LBS, I will admit she flew pretty well. My onboard Tach recorded Max RMPS in the region of 7200 and 7400 rpm, not bad for a three blade 16 x 8 prop. I intend to try out a 18 x 6 to see if the rpm's increase a tad bit. For a plane this size, it was able to achieve a top sped of about 85 mphin level flight. I will have a video loaded on youtube shortly. I love this plane.

Below is the link to the video...

Glad the maiden turned out OK for you ! Isn't she a nice flyer ? Nice video also.

Wow.......26 pounds !![X(] And I thought mine was heavy.

Thanks Joe, .. This can really take a pay load. I actually think she can fly with 28 lbs as the max...[:-]...

Here's another video from the cockpit..

After a near disaster caused by PILOT error, I have restored her back to her original condition. During this time I took the liberty to upgrade certain components such as the MFD's found on the newer model Cessnas. At the moment I am designing a mechanism to make the Yokes functional. It would be interesting to know what others are working on as well.

Hi Ron,

These are a set of Hobby Lobby's 1/4 scale Cessna yokes. I used them on my own 182 and they fit perfect http://www.hobby-lobby.com/1_4_scale...ueryId=1132771

Hi Ron:

Its great to hear from you... How is your Cessna doing? Regarding the 1/4 scale Yokes from Hobby-Lobby, I got me a set and it seemed that it looked a tab bigger on the console. I tried the 1/5 scale Yokes from IFlyTailies and that seem to be a great fit. Trying to work out the jig right now so both yokes will respond to transmitter input. Would be so cool!!

I just got a H9 182 from a friend, I didn't like the color scheme so I changed it to this older Cessna scheme. I like it much better. G-38 powered and has a Robart nose strut. Awesome flying model...

Hi bum,

Wow........she looks great !

I also like your new color scheme.

Mine is already for its second (???) maiden flight.

Late last year during a misjudged landing, I missed the edge of the grass field and just caught the edge of a soybean field. Did quite a bit of damage to the nose gear, firewall and all the supporting wood........no nice clean breaks, just a lot of torn wood.[&o]

Did a major repair during the winter and still have not flown it this year......YET.

Ijust, TODAY, received a new, unopened , in box "HANGAR9 Cessna 182 Skylane 95"" that Iam opting to immediately sell and saw that you are looking. I had thought Ihad an engine that Iwas going to get a deal on..but Idont want to shell out too much on this. If you are interested in buying the kit i have now, let me know... it is straight from a hobby store i was able to find that had it.

Thanks,
jon

Hey guys,
my adventurous-self began assembling this last week.. and while it is looking great, there has been those "flawed" instances.. like cracked servo blocks (epoxy corrected) and a wing strut nut being loose and ripped out of the wing when tightend (also epoxy corrected

but, when things dont match instructions, i get really freaked out......I am currently at the hinging the rudder phase, with the rudder torque rod. ~ no where is there any mention about the bushings that are on the rod and how they are to be secured... there are two with two holes each..looking like they are to be screwed in? the instructions reference epoxy, but dont show the bushings pictured. anyone know what im running into? appreciate the help and positive reinforcement

thanks,
jon

I cut slots in the trailing edge of the rudder and inserted the bushing through the slot. It makes the rudder assembly sturdier...

Hi Ivan:

I'd like to see the mods you made on yours. Mine is almost complete. I am holding on installing the front windshield until I am sure I can no longer get clear wind screens up front. i am yet to fly it FPV though.

Little bit of a late reply, but Airportbum your Cessna is absolutely beautiful. One of the best repainted airframes I have seen. Makes me want to start stripping mine now. The older Cessna schemes have always been my favorites. The newer schemes are downright ugly. I have had a lot of luck with epoxy finishes on Ultracote, what did you use?

Its been a while since I have been on this forum... Anyone interested in buying my Cessna? Complete plane minus the Rx for 500. Or I can include Spektrum rx for 100.00 more. I have had plane since they first came out, but have never had time to fly it. I had at field but failed range check on FM system. I upgraded to 2.4ghz, but don't have the time to go and fly it.

http://houston.craigslist.org/tag/4120905620.html

I will also post this in the for sale area as this forum is for building.

It does needs wing cuffs as a few of them are missing or chipped from me moving several times.

Anders hi. im building one at the moment with OS160 and on board start. Having a few fitting issues with engine. Start unit touches on cowl at top and carby choke has to protrude cowl too. Do you have any advice and any more pics of your installation with cowl fitted as well.

I have the same setup and yes, the carby choke does protrude out of the cowl. I opted to have it installed without the choke. Instead I have a filter in its place. With the filter on, all I had to do was drill out a small hole. Makes for a cleaner look. You can check out my pictures on here. Let me know if you have any questions.

G'day, thanks.
I cant see the pics for some reason.
now next issue is the prop nut and safety nut being too short.
is there an aftermarket nut that is longer?
