DEAD STICK!!!!!! Ha, got ya.

Does anyone have any ideas about where one could acquire balsa dimensionals (1/2x1/2 - 3/4x3/4 - etc.) with lengths up to eight feet? Having committed myself to a 30% build, with determination to replicate all facets of detail (aside from metal tubing), I have found myself stuck by the inavailability of lengths of balsa. I flinch at the thought of splices, laminations and/or other means of acheiving length. Anything?

I have never seen anything longer then 48" in all my searches. You might concider spruce stringerOf a equal strength!

Give SiG a call..if what you want is even out ther in that length they will know for sure. You see Sig owns their own balasa tree farms. If 8 foot balsa is even out there they would be the ones to contact.

After careful consideration, this bird will be built using sruce! I can't get dimensional balsa as long as I need it, so spruce it is. Going over the rough dimensions, the longerons will get as long as 6'9", and the spars for either wing will be 48". I think spruce will be fitting for the detail I seek. Once this build gets rolling, the shots will be posted! Be patient though.

Thanks ya'all
