Yes you will be able to fine tune it with the struts. Zippi, in regards to getting to the second switch. I am putting a standard sized heavy duty switch in the small opening and a micro servo in the larger opening. Ignition will be turned on via a switch on the radio.

There is only a 12 oz difference between the two engines and with the wing area that this plane has it will be fine. Take at look at the DLE 30cc if you haven't bought your engine yet. The DLE 30 only weighs 37.7 oz.

Your setup sound fine. I don't know what I was thinking....The set and pilot are held down by magnets. Pop the seat up and turn the switch off or on and drop the seat back down.

Leedees, did you check the squareness of the fin. I bolted mine together and its off a little bit like 1-2 degree from 90. There is no easy way to fix it at this point but wondering when I get to the tail struts if you can tighten the one side to square it up at that point. If not I will have to figure some way to shim it to square up the fin.

Just for my info many of the sport ARF's I have tend to be a little out of square a very small amount and they are not always easy to fix I have left them go for small amounts and have not noticed any flight problems. Just how big of a deal is it if your stab or fin is a half a degree or so off square? Is it something the average Joe Sunday flyer should worry about? I have never spent this much on a plane or had a plane this big so I am still at the stage I can fix it probalbly if an issue.

All the radio gear is installed in the plane except the ignition battery. Still waiting on the DLE 30cc to show up. Once the engine is bolted on I'll secure the ignition battery to get the proper CG. Also waiting on my XOAR "The Sword" 18X8 white prop to get hear.

Here's some pictures of the logos (decals) that came with my 9 year old Hanger 9 Taylorcraft. Apparently Mr. Jim Moss, the builder of Harold's full-scale Taylorcraft, uses these logos on some of his other creations. I believe the pics are clear enough to make your own decals, or have vinyl stickers made up.

Hi and good advice leedees.In regard to the kit i tried to order one today but the distributer here says they don't have them yet,around 700 dollars aus i think.Would like to run a 182td saito flat twin or a fa220 i have now in the taylorcraft,any thoughts on how that would go given that most of you are looking at gas engines?.The 220 weighs 1100grms (about one pound) and the 182 is considerably heavier with less horsepower.

Old Fart, here's a video of the old H9 Taylorcraft flying on an O.S. Twin cylinder. It may be the 160 size. It appears to have plenty of power. I know from your posts at Club Saito you know plenty about the power output of any of the Saitos. It would be hard to resist mounting a twin cylinder engine in the Taylorcraft.

Buy a Syssa aircraft HP 180 for the same money as the Saito and it's much more powerful and just as light. Todd is doing some excellent work over there.

Not yet. I'm anxiously waiting for the engine to come in. Plane is basically finished, just waiting on the DLE 30. I will post some pics when I get the engine.

I just checked out the Hanger 9 review video. Didn't realize the new Taylorcraft is smaller than the older first version (86" vs. 80"). Hanger 9 claims they made the new version a little smaller to accomidate smaller engines.
My old one is powered with a 1.8 Saito. It came out VERY tail heavy with this combo. This Saito pulls it through the air with authority !!
Also, with all of the strengthening, scale additions and excess lead I added to the nose, it came out almost 2 pounds overweight. At first, I was very concerned about the weight, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. It actually seems to enjoy the extra weight.

I put the aileron, rudder servos in and all the linkage, tail struts etc. and the tailwheel. I didn't like the springs on the tailwheel they are much too long and when the rudder turns the tailwheel hardly moves I need to cut some of the coils off of them and bend the wire straight then loop it and re-bend it to get enough tension on them...either that or off the the HW store for some shorter springs

I am concerned with putting the G26 on there it will be very NOSE Heavy and I will have to add huge weight to the tail then it will be a tank. The G26 is a full 16 ounces heavier than the G20. Imagine how many sticks of stick on weight that is. Plus, the 4500 mah battery I got for it also weighs in at like a pound for the electronic ignition. I fear I will end up with a 16.5 pound model and its supposed to be like 15 with the G20
