I have mine at home now and I gotta tell ya im not used to the giant scale stuff thats for sure. Damn this thing is big (I love it!!!!). I can't wait to assemble!!!

Is anyone using the SPE 40cc engine and if they are does the carb and muffler fit unsder the cowel?? they don't have very good dimensions on there website.

Thanks

Brad,
I have an SPE-43 in mine and it fits completely under the cowl. One point though, when I hooked up the ignition, I discovered the metal boot rubs one place on the cowl so I would recommend fitting the cowl with the ignition boot in place.

Well found a good deal on a FG-36 decided to go with that. I would much rather a four stroke engine anyways for them scale flybys!!

does any think a os 3500bgx 2 stroke would be too much power for this plane[sm=50_50.gif]

Okay...now time to balance this plane....
First let me say i'm using Futaba S3010's in the elevator and ailerons and a Hitech 6045MG for the pull-pull rudder. Also 3004's for throttle and smoke valve. The question I have is which battery should I use? A set of Sanyo batteries in 6 volt Nic Cad or 4.8 volt Hydrimax in 3600 mAh (heavy!! [X(]) If I use the lighter but stronger 6 volt I'll have to add a few more ounces to the tail. With the 4.8 v heavier battery it's less power but will last a looong time between charges. Plus I can shed the dead weight in the tail to make it balance at 4 1/8''. Weight of the plane is not reallyy the issue...it's a matter of which of these batteries will be better for this plane given it's servo arrangement.

What engine are you running?? Seems that your plane is a little nose heavy?

Probly lots of power for the plane but don't forget people were putting DA-50r in this plane. You would have to beef up the firewall a little bit thats all.

A G38 in the front. That's just how it happens to balance with the 6 volt on the tail with a little extra weight on the elevator. Balance is not the issue...which battery best with these servos considering I'll be doing aerobatics once she's airborne.

[X(] lol that is nuts. I thought it was wild when I put a 43cc in mine. That plane is just crazy. Have fun!!! :)

Awsome video Ricardo. Holy weh it looks like its in fast foward on the flyby. That DA 50 really hauls ass on that plane!!!

Ricardo, I am going to install a DA50 in mine as well. Any close up pics of your install and how about balancing? What length standoff's do I need? Thanks and awesome airplane you have there!

great video Ricardo! I love how the DA50 fits entirely under the cowl. Nice fit and finish. Great power, looks like it pulls it like a train

Hello! See some DA50 instalation pictures (hope it helps!)
I just kept 2 batteries of 6V 5 cells under de wing, also the smoke fuel tank.
Ignition 4,8V 4 cells batterie and the ignition together with the mail fuel tank.
That's it! The plane is about 30 degrees nose down when you fix your fingers 1/3 from the wing face wind to check the CG.
It flies a lot and my first landing was without engine! So the CG is OK for sure! Perfect!
DA50 has less weight than many other smaller engines.

Ricardo.

Hello!
Today I'll start posting some pictures of the progress on my Decathlon.
It will be powered by a ASP 180 Four Stroke.

Now I'm working to add some details on it.
First of all I decided to modify the upper window. Now it's square(like the real airplane) and removable.
I hope the pictures helps those who are working on the SD too.
Thanks!

Hey guys
Just completed mine. (Don't ask, LOL)
It's RTF, but in balancing I find that I'm going to have to add 6oz to the TAIL to get it to balance. I've got an OSMax 160 2stroke up front, OS Metal mount, slimeline Pitts muffler and needed 1/4 inch plywood spacer to get the proper firewall to prophub clearance. (Pic of engine install attached.)
Anyone else had to add tial weight to balance? Doesn't sound real normal to me.

I have a G38 in mine, it took almost a pound to balance.
.
Nice pics Luiz...you are very creative with your additional scale build up. I like everything you've done so far. [8D]

Nose or tail?
Thanks

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Definately tail. The gas engine made her nose heavy but even with the added tail weight the plane flies sooo nice and scale-like.
