McCoy Series 21 .35 Engine.. Parts?
Hi again,
I've found a Mc Coy Series 21 .35 Engine (Blackhead) in a Box of Parts, that a friend send me. This engine is unused,
it never run...
The only real Problem ist, that the head is missing. It looked to me first that the needle Valve is broken off, but a closer look
offered that it isn't, only the nut, the spring and the needle itself is missing.
Has anyone an old Engine that could spend some Parts for it?
TIA,
Holm

RE: McCoy Series 21 .35 Engine.. Parts?
All I have left from a series 21 Testors .40 engine is a head, a decent cylinder in good shape and a beat up piston. Once years ago my best friend's son was into speed and he experimented a lot by mixing and matching parts to try to make engines faster. He apparently took apart the engine and used the piston in something, I don't know what though and the piston got dinged up a little. Before then, I tried using the Testors .40 engine but I couldn't keep the prop tight on it. They used a cheap cast aluminum drive washer with a tapered inside, and when you tightened up the prop, the washer would jam up against the front of the crankcase locking up the engine. So I shelved it for maybe a future project to fix it, but I never got around to it. Of course later my friend's son discovered the engine and apparently some of the parts fit something else.
Unfortunately, they seem to have even less power than a UEDA engine has. The .40 ran about as good as a inexpensive baffled .29 did.

RE: McCoy Series 21 .35 Engine.. Parts?
@Jim: I've found Mecoas site with the parts for them yesterday with google.
[link=http://www.mecoa.com/vintage/mccoy/mccoy-parts.htm]MECOA[/link]
It seems, that most parts are sold out, but they still have the
Needle for the engine and the nut The heads are all gone.
I'll ad a picture of my engine later today, here one from the net for reference in the meantime:
I don't expect much power from this motor...
Regards,
Holm

I flew three different Series 21 40's in a control line airplane. All three different in power, but no where near a K&B 4011.
