Saito engine question
I have a 50 but no 45. It was my understanding back years ago that a 50 was an extension of the 45. Then they made the 56 from the 50. To my knowledge these three engines are of the same family. The 50 was an ABC engine and the 56 was AAC with no brass sleeve in it. It is chromed right onto the aluminum.
However, Saito changed their engines a lot early on and my old 50 looks a lot different than my new 56. But the exhaust and carb do appear to be switchable. But the glowplug angle is different and there are some bosses on the 50 that are not on the 56.
I was saying all this because the 50 is currently in production and could possibly be very new.
I was pondering why you ask the question and maybe its because you need parts for a 45? Maybe you better look at them side by side first. Or you could call Horizon Hobbies and ask.
Good luck,
Jim

Saito .45 & .50
Frazzy,
your original question was posted almost a month ago, but you may still need the help.
I have both the 45 and the 50. The only difference I can see is the low speed needle valve setup. The .45 is a little more primitive.
Otherwise the carb, muffler/exhaust etc look the same!
