I get a little nervous when someone modifies props. Sanding them thinner seems counter-productive. Let's keep the comparisons to stock props!

There are few guys on this forum that are quite capable of it and know how far to go with a particular setup. I just don't mess with the APC's other than check balance, because any work I put into it will curse the prop and sure as sugar, I'll de-tip it one way or another, probably just getting it out of the car If needed, I do cut down (1/8-1/4") the MA S-2 props and re-shape to original tip configuration, far easier than getting that bit of washout that APC does to their tips. Ever notice how performance sensitive APC's are to minor tip damage? I've got a ten years collection box worth

And in the air the 10x6 RAM and Graupner Cam-prop are slightly better than the 10x6 APC.
You can't claim that for any prop. Every engine, prop, and airframe combination will perform diferently for whatever profile you fly.

Perhaps the props he listed may be slightly more efficient?

It's still the same thing. You have to tach them in the air at the speed you fly. Still, everything is a tradeoff with components. You will always find exceptions to any rule that this prop is better, etc. Just the shape of a cowl may make the MA better than the APC you are testing, etc. Few of us go to those lengths. We have a handful of props that we are familiar with, and we use those where they seem best.

Dave, how about that pic of your prop wall again?

In my Katana 70 profile 3-D plane the Master Schimitare S-2 14-6 provided way better pullout from hover than APC 14-6. Engine was a magnum .91 fs. The master was clearly the best choice in this particular application anyway

I wish my hobby shop carried the S-2's in the larger sizes.. The biggest they had was a 10x8. I could order online, but the shipping would be twice what the order total would be... Besides, I prefer to support the local hobby shop versus the web based conglomerate. I went looking for a 10x10 and 11x11 and settled for a 10x9 and 11x9 until the next order comes in. These two balanced a lot easier than previous APC props, but straight away were heavy on one blade by quite a bit.

The few MA K-series props I have balanced quite easily, closer to zero balance than any of the APC's I have gotten.

My next combo will be a Saito 62 with a Zinger Pro 12X7 on the Epade. According to the Prop Power Calculator the Zinger has a 1.25 value while the APC has 1.2. Ihave high hopes for it, its a great looking prop too.

Nice to see some Bolly's the collections lads!

I am scared to look at how many props I have ... it is scary .

Here are a few random examples.

A nice article on prop airfoil sections:
