Default bisson muffler on gms 76

I am considering getting an bisson muffler for puttiong a gms 76 in a hangar 9 sport cap, has anyone used this combination and if so how did it fit, I have heard of one guy that got a bisson and it would not clear the bottm of the motor mount. ANd if anyone knows how much clearance the is from the muffler outlet to the top of the muffler it would be appreciated. From the pics it looks pretty tight in this area. thanks rickey

I am currently build the third one of these planes. It is designed to use the stock muffler as the fuse is cut out on the bottom to allow the stock muffler room to exit. The cowl is much smaller than the standard Cap232 and a pitts style exhaust would be a problem with the cowl fit. So if you have the original muffler it would fit better and give better performance than the pitts.

thanks for the info. I was wondering what those cutouts on the bottom were for. I looked at the clearance of my muffler and i am about the width of the exhaust outlet too long to put the stock muffler on without cutting the stock muffler down, but this does give me another oprion that i hadn't thought about. the 76 really fills up the cowl. what engines are u using, and how much travel are u using on the elevator, thanks rickey

So far I've done two with 120 four-strokes and one with a 120 GMS 2-stroke. The 4-stroke engine models had the engine inverted and the 2-stroke model is mounted diagonally as show in the directions. The mufflers were not an issue on the four stroke models because of the side exhaust. The 120 2-stroke cleared easily, maybe because it is larger and hung down farther.
The control throws on all are set at the recommended throws and are plenty for take-off and landing. I wouldn't change them unless you balance it using the most forward balance point, then I may add a bit more elevator for the landing flare. The planes I've done were balanced at the most rear balance point, even then the tail drooped a bit, they fly great and land very slow. As far as high rate control throws, we got them set for "all you can get". Be advised that it spins so fast you can lose where you are at easily. For 3D flying you need "all you can get", just keep the speed down so you don't break it.
