I'm currently building a Goldberg Tiger 60. As I have been in this hobby for 40 years, i have a box of old engines. As I'm too frugal to buy a new engine, I have an old OS 91 FS Surpass engine that I'm planning to use for this build . It has good compression but I recall it just didn't have the poop that a new engine has. I'm looking for recommendations for what I need to do to get this engine back to it's original performance.
I'm 81 years old and this is going to be my last kit build.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your engine is more than enough for that airplane provided you prop it right and use 5-10% nitro fuel.
Best props are Graupner G Sonic, RAM or APC. Stay away from white tipped Master A props! 13x8 or 14x6 is what I would use. And most important ...build the plane light! Remove as much wood you can and use the lightest possible wheels and use a 240-300cc tank. Not more!

If you feel your Supass is a bit low on power I would be willing to help out a bit. I have a ring and bearigs on hand. Should put some bounce back in the old OS. If you care to send the engine I can go thru it and return it in a couple of weeks.
I do have references if there is any concern.
Glad to help, enjoy the new plane.

Thank you for your response. I would like to proceed with your offer. I could mail via USPS. When completed I would email a paid return label to you. My email address is [email protected]. if you send me mailing information I will send to your address. I now live in Lake Benton MN. Many years ago I worked at the GM proving grounds and I lived near Brighton. Also, let me know what your charge is for this service.
