I have a OS FT-160 that I bought used, when bench running it it seems to flood out very easy, it won't idle down to around 1200 as stated by previous owner. The tank is located as stated in the manual, the top of the tank is around 3/8" above the needle valve. I can't seem to get low end adjustments, the air bleed seems to have no effect on the low end, it always seems to be running rich on the low end, top end seems fine around 8500 on 15X8 zinger. When I stop the engine oil and some raw fuel comes pouring out the breather vent on the back of the engine. I'm running Morgan Heli fuel 15% all synthetic, any clues what could be happening?

Bill, I helped a buddy with a OS 1.20 twin that is a few years old. I dont know if yours has the same carb or not.
His is not an air bleed on the low end. It is a fuel control. Yours really sounds rich. Have you tried closing it all the
way and going open a little at a time? Is it putting a bunch of fuel out of the crankcase vent? Have you
tried putting a loop in the line between tank and carb? His 1.20 also idled bad before he put onboard
glow drivers on it. but not to the extreme you are talking about. let me know, later daveo

I tried lower the tank even more and it seems to help, now I have some low end adjustments but it still seems to be very rich on low end. When I throttle up from idle it puffs a lot of smoke and hesitates a little then seems clean out and run fine on the top end. I looked at the carb and I see a air hole near the low speed needle, I took off the carb and blew it out gently with compressed air and put it back on. I still get the hesitation and oil just pouring out the breather vent when stopped. I was standing behind the engine on the test stand while running it and kept feeling something cool hitting me in the legs, I determined that it was raw fuel coming out of the engine breather vent. I don't think I should have raw fuel coming out of the engine when running, I checked fuel lines, carb, needle valve, everything looks good, no fuel leaks.

It still sounds a liitle rich. Open up that low end to let a liitle more air in and adjust down the idle speed
with the radio trim. If raw fuel is coming out of the overflow it is to rich and to rich is giving you the hesitation.
The 1.20 i talked about earlyer will spit out raw fuel anytime you go from full throttle to idle in a hurry. must be the nature of the beast. But when the idle is set right it it only dose it when you chop it. Are you using 2 hot shots or an on board glow driver or head lock or what? later daveo
