Default Saito 180 with 18x6?

We've always been running the Saito 180s with 16x8 APC props with very good results. Has anyone tried using an APC or Zinger wood 18x6 or 18x5? I'd be trying it on my Yellow Sukhoi.

Thanks,
Juhan

A fellow at the club ran his w/ a Master Airscrew Classic 18X6 with very good results. The problem is that our field has strict noise regulations and thought the prop gave excellent low speed thrust, it was way too loud.

If you don't have problems w/ noise at your field, it is a good prop on the 180, particularly if you're looking for low speed pulling power.

I've recently propped a Saito 180 with a Mejzlik 18-6 on a Sig CAP. Increased static thrust and seemingly better vertical than the 17-8 APC it replaced. The biggest difference is in slowing the aircraft down. The lower pitch and larger disk area really seems to help. The noise did not appear to be perceptibly different with either prop. I would guess that an APC 18-6 would perform similarly, however the hub is fairly massive and a lot of material needs to be removed from the spinner.

I use an APC 17x6 prop at the suggestion of my friends at Horizon. After much testing, this is the prop they settled on.
