Default 140 DZ Fuel Set up

I just purchased a new 140 DZ and realized the fuel system is not pressurized like the others YS engines. I would like to know the correct hook up for it. I read a thread where the individual was using a check valve, but I'm sure you don't use them with the DZ.Can someone please help me.

NO check valve is required for the DZ. Just hook it up as the instruction sheet shows.

Thanks Dave. One other question, I have 12 gallons of Wild Cat YS 20/20 fuel. Will the DZ run alright on it?
Thank you.

We recommend fuel made specifically for the DZ by several manufacturers. You can try the fuel you have, it may work fine, but I have never tried it. Maybe some of our other friends here can contribute to this answer.

Attached is a copy of the DZ set up using a check valve. Not sure what this does to the engine, because the DZ does not run off pressure.

It is to keep the fuel from running out when the plane is being transported.

You could use another fuel dot and T in the fuel supply line instead of having the fuel filter on the outside of the cowling and plugging it and unplugging it into the fuel supply line to the engine. Two fuel dots and two "T"s is the hot setup. I used two miracle fuelers instead of fuel dots. What a great setup. No way those lines are popping off of the fittings.

Just make sure the fuel filter is on the part of the T that goes to the fuel supply connection on the engine. That way there's no possibility of dirt etc, getting into your engine while your refueling. I'd do the same with the gate valve. Put it on the part of the T that goes to your exhaust or vent connection on engine. That way if pressure builds up in your fuel tank like my YS63, you can relieve it with your vent dot, but still keep fuel out of the line to engine or exhaust. BTW, I can't view FIG 1 in YS's on-line instructions for your engine. How does it say to pipe it? Does your vent from the tank go to the engine connection (via gate valve) or does it go to the exhaust connection?

YS has a line coming out of the tank off the clunk, with an inline filter to the regulator. They show no line coming off the vent tube in the tank.

hmm, well I'm totally confused then. Maybe someone else that's a YS guru can explain to me how that engine draws fuel from a tank with only one hole in the stopper.

There are two lines coming out of the tank, one is from clunk to the regulator and the other just protrudes past the stopper.

I think you're taking my words in the wrong context. I was truely confused and just conveying that in my post.

I just looked at that diagram that someone posted earlier in the thread. I think I get it now. All you'd have to do is use that exact diagram except put a T in the one going to the fuel dot (just like the vent side is piped). I didn't realize that you just leave the vent one hanging out some where under the cowling (like the diagram says). I thought it had to be connected to something like the engine or fuel tank.

Then when you re-fuel, you just take off the vent dot (for overflow), take off the fuel line dot, refuel. When it's full, just the dots back on and go fly. Sorry I should have read the earlier post better. It was the diagram for your engine and I confess I didn't study it too well.

I haven't done it yet. I'm going to use the set up diagram that "rgreen24" posted here.I will use the two "T" and two Miracle fuelers. I purchased my Miracle fuelers from ,www.qualityrcproducts.com.These fuelers can be used on gas and glow.
Sorry about that snap,I've been on here to long!

Be sure that when you land from a flight remember to disconnect the fuel to the carb or use a hemostat to tie the line going to the carburater. This is only necessary of you are running the engine sideways or inverted. The reason for doing this is that the fuel will still run to the carburater once you land and you may get a nasty kivk back when trying to start your engine or it may hydrolock. Talking from experience!
