hi i just noticed that the TT 46 pro is useing a ABN sleeve now ! when did they start using nicle in stead of crome ? I hope they dont have the same peeling trouble as OS Max is !! anyone know how this is working out !!

I checked with Ace last week. Ace says the TT Pro 46 uses an ABC sleeve. Are you getting your information from Tower Hobbies? I think they must have an error in their description.

I bought a used TT Pro .46 and we don't know much about the engine. It uses a single needle valve. Can someone give me an idea how old this style of TT Pro is, and any other bits of info on it? It seems to be touchy to tune, but ran great yesterday after a lot of tuning by someone more experienced than I am. I'm very interested in any particulars on it and would like to download the engine manual if it were available anywhere. Thanks.

I emailed Ace Hobby (TT's U.S. Distributor) 7 days ago asking if the Pro46 liner was chrome or nickel plated. They responded 2 days later that it was chrome plated.
So now I'm very confused. I was about to purchase a TT Pro 46, so I'd sure like to know the correct answer.

Hi!
My TT PRO .40 SE had a ABN cylinder ten yeas ago! And so had all the TT PRO.40 Se we used in sport Q-500 pylon years ago.
Don't think TT has ever made a chrome cylinder for their engines......only ABN.
Does it really matter ....NO! As long as the engines work and does so for years and years ..who cares!
Regards!

To my knowledge Thunder Tiger engines have always had nickel plated cylinders. They have been calling it composite to allow them to say ABC. They have a good plating process and have had very few bad liners. The only bad ones I have seen have been from foreign matter (dirt) getting in the engine and ruining the piston and sleeve.

I have got a TT Pro .46 that I have ran for 3 years, and still running strong. I gave it a rest last year, I only ran it for about 7months. but I have now put it back on something, and it will start flying again this week.
I like really like TT motors. and I have heard they are coming out with a .91 2-stroke. If they do, I will own one.

Marketing matter:
There is a difference between ABC type and true chrome abc .
TT 46 pro is an ABC type engine but it has nikel plated liner. It isn't has a true chrome plated liner, but piston is made from alu. liner is brass made AND NIKEL PLATED, that is : ABC type.
Although it's nikel plated liner it's a great engine, powerful, cheap and reliable.

I have an older TT Pro .46 and it is chrome, you can see the brass from the side. Don't know if they are nickle or chrome now. They could have switched to nickle and back again for all I know. In any event I have never heard of TT's cylinders pealing! Nor Webra's or any one but OS.

I agree Yard - Dart.
ABC = Aluminum Brass Chrome
ABN = Alluminum Brass Nickle
AAC = Alluminum Aluminum Chrome
The first is the piston material, the second the sleeve material, and the last the sleeve surface. Can be lapped or ringed.
Now what about the old Sportsters with the chomed aluminum piston and high silicon cylinder bore? ACA?

My guess is you are correct when you say that TT has a different mfg. process. I have a .46 Pro and it runs like a top. I also have a .46FX and have not (Knock on wood) had a failure and runs great. I like them both and the price for the TT is nice. I just recently aquired a new Magnum .46 XLS (My first Magnum) and it also seems to run well. The Magnum is not as shiny and finished like the TT or the OS, but it looks well made and sure "hauls the mail". I put it in my H9 Twist yesterday and it had unlimited vertical, great transition and idle. As does my FX and Pro. Prop was an APC 11/6 with 15% Omega. Just a word to those who say 15% is no better than 10%. My next gallon will be 10% and I will report in another post.

And OS material is ??
ABL = Alluminum Brass Lithium ???
OS says Advanced Bimetallic Liner and only refers to two layers of nickel although its cylinder is made of brass.
Not all acronyms are used same way by manufacturers.
Saito 56 is AAC but it has ring at piston. OK it's a four stroke but it is'n a tappered cylinder. There are other brands with four stroke ABC type engines without ring and tappered cylinders.
