Hi, I have a irvine .46 in a trainer(tutor 40) on the ground i can tune this up great, for max rpm, but now and again when i take off, Arrhhh the engines cuts, Im very new to rc planes,
The engine is new,, the plane is new. the tx is new, and the rx is new, ! so please can some one tell me what im doing wrong,
This cutting out does happen but not allways, but when it does im having to put her down in the neighbouring field, ive never got enough hieght or speed to get her back around and down..
I also have other engines and planes, and this happens on them as well. so obviously its something im not doing or doing!, appreciate any help thanks..
The fuel im using is 5% Flair £12.50 a god damn gallon!(not impressed)

You need to screw the high speed needle out some. In orther words, after you peak the engine out for maximam rpm, open the high needle back up two or three clicks.
Pick up the model and hold the nose straight up and see what it does. Try it in all attitudes on the ground and see f it quits.
The bottom line is that you are trying to run the engine too fast. The Irvine is one of the best engines you can buy.
Enjoy,
Jim

Yes that is good advice. I was doing the same thing for a while because i thought my engines were running too rich, so I leaned them out. But they really needed more fuel. Give it a try.

Thanks Guys., i will give it a try, i do hold the nose up before take off, to see if it cuts but it never does, only seems to be when i take off, around 40 metres, then cut.
Ok ill try and do what u say, peak, then open it up 3 clicks, ill also try a bigger prop. maybe this is causing it to run too fast.
Thanks again.
