Default Boring Question

My 1.80 Moki has a 12mm shaft. I was wondering how everyone gets their props out to these larger diameters. Does anyone make a 12mm reamer? The largest prop reamer I've seen is 10mm. Are you drilling them out?

Thanks

Vince

Vince,

Tower shows [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNL18&P=RF]this item[/link].
It seems the Horizon site is not accessible to many browsers...

It is a 'Parts Express' item with reduced handling and shipping charges.

You need to have a drill bit or a reamer that has a pilot on it to keep the enlarged hole concentric. You can't do that with a regular drill bit.

I have tried using a drill press and ruined a bunch of props. Just one degree off of perpendicular and you have an epoxy or paint stirrer.

You must have a bad drill press been doing it that way for 18 years and havent made a stir stick yet At least not with a drill press. Made them lots of other ways

I agree with Lonnie....

....I always, as in "always"....never any other way....(always) use the drill press
to "enlarge the propellor stud opening". The trick is to let the drill "self center" at
first, then drill on down through. I have never miss-drilled a prop in 35 years with
a drill press. (Isn't that what drill presses are for ? )
