Default what engine is this?

i thought i knew a bit about motors but this one has got me foxed,it is non-rc with a black plastic venturi, takes standard size plugs, the muffler is an aluminium ring sandwiched between lower cooling fin and case a la cox,the muffler has 1 hole about 3mm for the gases to exit,it is marked as a 15 but doesn't look that big and the case has what looks like a 'j' cast into it,the case backplate screws into the case,it has beam mounts as well, help.

It sounds like a PAW, they either made or converted a few to glow engines at one time according to a poster here a whole back.

Sounds like a Cipolla Jr. although I thought they only came in the .09 size. Mine is an earlier version.

George

Edit: The 15 is actually 1.5 which means 1.5cc or .09 ci.

Cipolla is Italian for 'onion' (pronounced "chi-po'-la").

I hope it is not a 'lemon'...

bigchap,

A little additional info, I was thumbing through a 1978 Aero Modeler magazine and saw an advertisement with the muffler version you describe. From what I understand, the Cipolla glow has a decent reputation but the diesel version tends to throw conrods. I do not have the diesel version so I am only repeating from what I've read on the web.
After I broke mine in, I found the lower conrod fit to be a bit loose, but this may be normal. I don't have a lot of time on it.
