I just aquired a "hangar 9" 1/4 scale CAP 232 and it requires a 1.08 to a 1.20 motor.
I have heard that the OS 1.08 is a power house.
Does any one have other recommendations.
What about the Webra 1.2? is that a good motor ?
a four stroke is not out of the question either?

Hi,
One of the blokes in my club has one of those Hangar 9 CAP 232s, he has the OS 160FX as recommended by sport10 and it seems a perfect match. He is an excellent pilot and the combination was good enough for him to get a first and third place at a recent contest.
Cheers,
Colin

I have a Saito 180 in mine and with an APC 17-6 it is an AWESOME flyer, even though my very early production plane is quite heavy at 14 lbs..... I originally flew it with a Saito 150, and it was "okay"..... I've seen one of the later, lighter ones (11.5 lbs) fly very nicely with an economical ST 2300.....

If this is the Matt Chapman Cap, then my flying buddy had one with the Webra 1.20 and it was enough to fly the plane but lacked the extra power you might want for some aerobatic maneuvers. I'd go with the 1.60 or Saito 1.80 on this plane.

Yeah, that's right. It was a good flyer but you could rule out being able to do much torque roll 3-d type stuff. It depends on your style of flying. Besides, the O.S. is only a few bucks more than the Webra.
They're both real good motors. I think the O.S. would give you more choices later on for suitable airframes.

Here are the motors that I would use for that airframe. Any of these would make a great combo.
YS 1.40 DZ
YS 1.40L
YS 1.40 Sport
Moki or Mark 1.80
OS 1.60FX
Satio 1.80
Webra 1.40
YS 1.40 DZ
YS 1.40L
YS 1.40 Sport
Moki or Mark 1.80
OS 1.60FX
Satio 1.80
Webra 1.40

To my best knowledge Moki only makes a 1.35, 1.80, and a 2.10 in that size engine. If there is indeed a moki 1.50 please let us known where you found one.

Well it looks like the 1.50 is in the same case as the 1.80, then it would be a no brainer to go with the 1.80 for a few bucks more. You can always throttle back. The 1.80s reputation around here is that it has a little more power than the OS but it does cost more.

You are correct, it will work great. Use Morgan 0% nitro, K&B 1L plug and follow the instructions for break in. I'd also get a Cline regulator and mount the tank on CG. I'd say an 18x6 or 18x8 wood prop would work best. Enjoy a great engine.
Here's the instruction sheet: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfi...34/Xv64158.jpg

Hi
I just bought the OS 1.60 FX for an Extra 300s 80 inch wing span. It weighes in at around 14lbs. What is the weight on the Cap you have.

HI
If the cap weighes in at 11lbs then your Moki 1.50 will be plenty of power. My extra 300 is just under 14lbs and it hover and does tork rolls without any problem with the OS 1.60 FX in it not completely broken in yet.
Have fun flying with it.
One quick note using bigger engines then recommended by the manufacturer is not always a good idea as sometimes it causes extra stress and strain on the structure which eventually reduces the life span of the plane. What is the horse power of your Moki 1.50

13-14 lbs. wow and they recommend a 1.08 to 1.20 motor for this plane.
I have a plain white one that I bought second hand from someone. I dont know the vintage on it. it is new in the box

Yep the engine runs like a clock on the Cline or Ironbay regulator. One thing I found to make the engine start on the first flip with the regulator is to flip the prop 10 times to pressurize the tank. Then I prime the engine, it starts the first time with no exceptions. If I don't pre-pressurize the tank it doesn't start as easy.
That link is pretty cool. The only thing I take exception to is where it says all big engines can use lower oil content. The Moki's need more than the ST engines. I'd use 17% minumum. I heard it's because of the bearings on the Moki that require the higher oil content.

I dont know if you read this on that web page Joe.
I guess they mean the moki runs better on the high oil fuel, right ?
High oil, regular fuel does not idle as well as the low oil fuel. The Moki runs better on regular fuel than the Tigres
