Perhaps residual black paint on the cylinder mounting flange and here and there? Hard to tell from just a pic. I was seriously considering getting a soda blaster, it would be important to me that it would remove light oxidation i.e. off color gray spots.

Or you could just paint the engine pink, orange, green...

I have a Goldberg Tiger 2 I inherited partially built I will be covering in orange and white and have toyed with the idea of paint a .56 Saito orange to match.

It would certainly match, and a few black stripes to go with the season. I have taken a hiatus from RC to split and stack firewood, I'm about 3 months late doing that.

You could wait until January but it wouldn't be nearly as much fun!

Ouch
Sorry to see that Dave. Looking on ebay I see there are three or four Saito 30s cranks for sale, all of them for thr car version. Must have been a few aircraft type 30s con-verted to the car type?
If that is the case there must be a few aircraft cranks sitting around. I guess a wanted ad may be worth s try. I see the car version has a pretty high asking price, then again the eBay car cranks are sitting around at over $400 per copy!

Good luck, of course we will be keeping an eye out too.

hey Dave, that's too bad. but could you stroke your engine with a longer/larger crank? making a new, shorter Rod would not be hard. all you would need is the aluminum and the correct endmills.

Did you have any particular crank in mind?

Maybe making a crank would be easier
Those $400 factory cranks sure hurt the eyes

Lonnie, re our, discussion about the control surface adequacy on the RH 80, they are definitely large enough. me thinks. I figured how to use dual aileron servos so I can have differential, when you choose the wing type option, (dual) it automatically inhibits the gear channel. The gear channel becomes the left aileron channel.

Left aileron

Yeah,
Certainly had more money than brains. No way were his connections to the loads close to adequate.

We did have huge spools of that 4/0 weld cable at work. Super jumper cables.

But nobody busted him for thread pollution LOL
