The crankcase is sealed from the atmosphere via the oil film between the crankshaft and crankcase. If the crankshaft is dry, add a couple drops of oil through the Venturi onto the outside of the crankshaft and rotate it around. I suspect the noise will change or go away.

For your consideration there is a gentleman liquidating his grandpa's collection over on RCG. He has a 15D, 40 Marine, an old 29, and a really old 63. Here is a link for the Diesel.

I love my Enya's. Many people do not understand or cannot accept that they require a proper break in which can be time consuming. Many of the older ones are "Hand Lapped", they demand more of the user initially but are life time engines with care barring misfortune. If a person can successfully break in and run an Enya the same person can operate any brand with success. There are some engines from mainland china I won't touch. Observing the success of other peoples. Taiwan engines have always been just fine with me. My time is worth something. A friend who owns a Hobby Shop and therefor can get many popular brands at cost always paid full retail for Enya four strokes for his own National's and World's Scale entries. I am reflecting on 35 years of him doing that. The old plastic venturi .29 and .35 lapped engines were magic for control line in the '60's. They like castor lubed fuels.

Great Find
I am grateful for you posting this 120 manual. It has the information I was after.
Cheers, Joe

Mine is happy as a clam on 5% nitromethane although it will tolerate 10% nitro. If it sounds rattly, drop the nitro a little or add a .1mm head shim. I wouldn’t recommend more than 10% nitro without a shim. Oil - 18-20% is good. I use 20% castor.

I will search for an exploded view among the .29 to .35 engines I have. I don't recall the original paperwork having that view. That engine shown with plastic Venturi is one of my favorites. For profile stunt they perform best for me with the smallest venturi insert. Higher intake velocity but still do a 4-2-4 break in style at the hands of someone who knows the engine. And for profile stunt work best with low compression head. Many seasoned stunt flyers can't get their heads wrapped around the virtue of the Enya Engine.
I would welcome information on the application optimizing the use of of the larger venturi's. I have old time FF models that I wish to use the .29 to .35 displacement engines for with larger props. The old Cox Texaco Specials utilized an 8 x 4 Cox propeller for their Texaco events with a 5 fin head for added cooling..

R120-4c
I am having issues with my R120-4C. I can’t get it to draw fuel very well. I’ve owned a couple of these as well as a lot of other brand four strokes but I’ve never seen this before. I can prime the engine by covering the muffler. But as soon as I turn the prop after that it loses prime and drained back to the tank. Every other 4 stroke I’ve owned holds prime very well. It is side mounted and is close to level with the tank. There are also a couple pressure taps on the crank case that look like a home made pump. I received the engine second hand so I don’t know what they’re for or how to plumb them. Any ideas?

New to thread
Just weighing in with a couple pics of my Enya's that were easy to find. Maybe half. A lot of .09 to .60 III missing. Only have the two 4 stokes. A big fan of the CX.11 as well. And a pic of my toy box Cox stuff. Maybe half of Collection. Almost all are new and just missing the pkg. If not new then used but mint. All the NIB stuff is somewhere here. I store all the Cox stuff with every part and screw just finger tight. All that is not in original packaging at least. A lot of Cox stuff might look okay but get one that looks
great and was put away with a full tank of fuel.

RCM Plan 856 40.5 inch span for .20-.30 2cycle Desinged by the great Gordon Whitehead
SS30 makes this Scale beauty look like a Model airplane and is a Rock Solid performer. Perfect trifecta!
The BU133 shown has over 1200 flights on it and is in Israel.
The 1.20 4 stroke is going back into a Carl Goldberg "Bucker Jungmann".

I have just bought a 90 FS off an auction site. It needed a good clean but it runs fine. Any idea what airframe I can put it in. Sport flyer only no fancy 3D stuff or a nice bi plane or war bird.
Cheers.

Thanks guys for all the recommendations. I have a couple of WW 2 German fighters and British too. I really fancy a Mustang or another American war bird. I think a 4 stroke in a warbird is the best sound, my others are all 4 banger's.

Out Door Man,
The Enya 90 is a nice engine, I had one in a SE5a and one in a Fokker DVII, both around 55-60 inch wingspan. Flew great with way more power than scale flight would require.
I found the older non "R" version Enya 4 strokes very suitable for scale biplanes, they can handle a larger wooden prop and the lower rpms very easly once properly broken in and tuned.

Thanks Fuelman. How do I identify my engine as a R or not. I git it off an auction site and only started it yestreday. Still getting used to it but it runs great. The compression was / is a bit low but seems to be improving with each run. I suspect it has been sat for some time and everything is a bit tight. I will check the rocker gap when I have run it a bit more. Any advise on running these old engines would be welcome.

Thanks Telemaster. My 90 4c has a screw in exhaust so that makes it a R type I guess. Do you know where I can find a manual for it please. The only manual I can find on the net is the 120 4C, I guess it is much the same?.

You are right Fuelsman. Further investigation I found it is a 90 4C TN not a R model. It was the screw in exhaust that threw me but sorted now. Anybody got the manual for an Enya 90 4C TN?. I have the 120 R manual is it basically the same?.
Cheers.
