Default OS 1.2 Regulator

Hey guys have a question I hope someone can help me with. I have an OS 1.2 Surpass III with factory pump. I stored this engine for a year well lubricated and vac sealed. I bought a new plane and decided to bring this engine out of retirement. I cleaned everything up and also took the regulator apart and cleaned with glow fuel. I was looking through the manual and it said never to disassemble the regulator because if you do the regulator will not function properly. Has anyone out there ever did this. I talked with tech support and they said to buy another carb body. Any comments on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellows for the input.

You will need to bench run the engine and see how it works? Some people have been successful.

The best pleaures in life are the more simple ones...

Meaning no fuel pumps and regulators if you don't really need them. If you need them, then, your are going to need to pay the price if you are going to listen to the music?

For years this has been coming up about factory fuel regulators on model engines.

Enjoy,

Jim

I've always thought,

"If I can take it apart--and not break or damage it--then I can put it back together and it should work."

I really can't see why you would need a new carb just because you took it apart. Seems silly. If it worked before--and you just took it apart to clean it out. Then you should be able to re-assemble it without screwing it up. Right?

Maybe just the OS way of trying to get $100 out of you?

Are there a bunch of tiny springs or gears inside that need to be timed or placed back with a set of gauges or calipers? Is it THAT complicated? Pop-off valves inside that have to be set--just right?

I've never seen one apart--but it can't be that complicated or critical?

Shoot!! Slap it on a test stand and give it a flip. See what happens.

The Cline aftermarket regulators use Walbro regulator parts available up town. They seem to last a long time and people on the internet seem to be able to talk you through repairing them.
