He probably means 13 is an unlucky number. That's a streange percentage; most fuels are in increments of 5%.

I think its 13 if not 12. I get the joke now . So there is absolutly no harm to the engine while running this fuel then?

Are you sure it is not 13% lube/oil? Read the label carefully. Were it me, I would make sure it had close to 20% lube with some of it being castor.

Cheers,

Chip

I have acctually had a look at the fuel bottle now, it says 16% nitro and no mention how much oil, methanol content [&:]. PS the fuel is quite old, will this affect the engines performance a lot? I know that after a long period of time fuel looses it methanol since it is a tipe of alcohol, any info?

I should also mention that this fuel has been exposed to certains amounts of sun heat and light wich has cause it to sweal a few times...

It will probably work, but why risk your engine & plane on a "probably". Save the fuel for campfires & get some new stuff.

Getting back to the original question -- 13%-16% (whatever) won't hurt the engine, but it could shorten glo-plug life if you habitually run at the lean end of acceptable tuning.

You are absolutely right, if ever in doubt, dont fly. But the thing is... I only thought of this a while ago, when I maidened the plane, I didnt take into consideration that there might have been a problem with the fuel. I am a very carefull flyer and whenever I suspect a problem at the field that I cant resolve at the moment I pack up.
