Just a small aside here, but the OS .61SF never had an air bleed carb. I believe that motor had the 7D carb on it, which was one of OS's finest.

What ever you say Race. Then I am most assuredly mistaker, but as the box is clearly marked .61SF and I do recognize the difference between a two needle carb and an air bleed carb, I must have the worlds only OS .61SF with an air bleed carb.

I apologize to Mario327 for side tracking this thread.

My choice would be the Super Tiger or even a Thunder Tiger .61 Pro before buying another OS

If you have a digital camera handy, any chance you can post a picture of your .61SF with an airbleed carb?

Sold it about a year ago to a club member for parts. I can tell you for sure that the carb is the same as the one on a .65LA. Thats where the carb went was on his .65 LA

OK..

Well if you bought the engine new, then you'd have a real collectors item on your hands since none of the SFs had airbleeds. On the other hand, if the motor was purchased used, then what you REALLY got was a motor that had been cobbled together from piece parts.

That would of course raise questions about the rest of the motor. Probably not representative of a real OS.

Food for thought.

Well..I actually ran quite a few of them "back in the day", and owned one which I flew steadily for maybe 5 or 6 years before selling it in an airplane at a swap meet. It was just like my .46SF....only bigger. Like my other OS's, it was perfectly reliable, utterly consistent and one of the least worrisome components in the airplane...and when it comes to engines...that's a good thing!

The original poster wanted a recommendation for a motor? I say OS, and I say it for a good reason. Proven Product.
