Default Glpw Plug Threads

Does any manufacturer make a glow plug that is 1/4 X 28 instead of 1/4 x 32?

I don't think so....every one I've seen is the same, except for the Cox .049
glow heads.

Though I've never seen one, I think some of the Nelson plugs have 11/32-32 threads. They only fit Nelson engines.

Look at the plug on the left.

Enjoy

Actually the Nelson Plugs fit any engine head that is drilled and tapped for them. (Actually there may need to be a little more machining to give clearance around the hex.) I have a Cox TD 09 head with a Nelson plug. I'm thinking about getting a couple of other heads drilled and tapped for them.

I thought the Nelson sat in a pocket like a Turbo plug? That the taper on it's end rested against a seat so there were no sharp threads exposed?

Bad news sounds like someone retapped their cylinder head to 1/4-28 instead of getting the right tap. Well am i right? probably not. But anyways in case anyone needs a 1/4-32 tap Micro Fasteners sell them. There are probably others also.

I myself have never heard of 1/4 28 glow plugs but then again i've been wrong once or twice before

You can send your head to:

Clarence F. Lee MFG Co.
10112 Woodward Ave.
Sunland, CA 91040
818-352-3766

He can put a helicoil in to convert back to 1/4- 32? its in the $12 range I think?

Call and ask?

Enjoy,

Jim

Uh-huh, Clarence Lee can probably install a Helicoil for around $12, as w8ye claims. You might can also buy a new head for only a little more, depending on the engine. Compare prices first.
