Default Irvine 53 rocks

I just pulled it out of a box after sitting for a year or so. I put it in a Katana 40 profile with an APC 12.25 x 3.75 prop. Miaden was today. Man that engine is powerful. It just screams with that prop. Perfect combo. So it felt good to fly the Irvine today, awesome engine. Anyone that can get one buy it. It's the best 50 sized 2-stroke out there IMO. BTW mine has the Jet steam carb on it.

I agree that the .53 is the best in its class, but you don't have near enough prop on that engine, I run a 12X6 three blade on mine if is great....[8D]

This is true, I have an APC 13-4 that would probably be better. I like the instant spool up though.

Assuming the crack is minor, and not the result of a deformed crankcase...

JB Weld works great for just this sort of thing. Clean the area thoroughly with a strong solvent like lacquer thinner, then work a small amount of slow-cure JB Weld into the crack with a toothpick. Give it a full overnight cure and it'll be good to go.

I had to do a little grinding on an engine and accidently hit a port. real small hole. JB weld fixed it right up. Next to the exhaust too and the heat doesn't affect it.
