That's the spirit Vern. I remember my Webra was a little more difficult to get dialed in than my O.S. engines, but once set, it's a great little engine. It hauls my Bill Evans Simitar around very dependably.

speedster 1919, the hallmark of a Bill Evans plane is the lack of horizontal stabalizer and elevator. It uses elevons. When it was first given to me, an old AM radio and a mixer hooked to the receiver came with it. I upgraded from a K&B .40 to the .50 Webra, and digital servos mixed by my Futaba Tx.

then try adding a head shim. The A5 is cooler than the #8 or use an Enya #4 or #5

My Webra 50 began acting like yours due to poor compression, the engine would have good compression cold but when the engine warmed up most of the compression went away. Check the compression on your engine after the engine has been ran.
Vern,

Besides the peeling I saw, supposing it does survive, the above could also be a result of a rich, wet break-in...

Brian,

The Enya #4 is the heat range equivalent of the OS #8.

The A5, or Rossi #4 is colder and so is the Enya #5.

Have we ascertained that this engine is indeed an ABN engine, mine is not very old and is a Dykes ringed engine which has lousy feeling compression when flipping but runs very well. I just ran it with a 12x5 Graupner that I had ran on a Fox .50 the other day, the Webra turned this prop at 13,181 rpm on 5% nitro while the Fox .50 turned it at 11,820 although the Fox is inhibited by the Fox Quiet Muffler and a smallish .247 Perry carb. The Webra impressed me with this number.

Vern, my LS needle is approximately 1/16 inch from the end of the spraybar at full throttle.

Was it with little fanfare that they went from the Dykes ring to ABN? The new 55 is ABN isn't it? Why such a high price on the 55?! I want one, but.....

Ernie
