I posed this question to Bax in the O.S. forum too, but I thought I might give this one a try also.
Can I just install a new piston and ring without replacing the cylinder liner?
My cylinder is in pretty good shape, however my piston is scored(used engine, never again ).
Anyway, my thought was to just use a BB style brake cylinder hone or a homemade flap wheel to just "break the glaze" in the cylinder.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Absolutely. If the liner is in good shape, all it needs is a piston ring, assuming the piston's ring land is okay too. You did look at that, didn't you?
Go very easy with that brake hone, but you knew that.

Thanks for the reply, Ed.
I'll be replacing the piston too. Just didn't want to drop another 75 bucks on a liner if I didn't need to.
