Amir,
Although the Tower web site does state this sleeve is ABN, Bill Baxter (BAX) got on the horn here, stating the OS.91VRDF sleeves are true chromium ABC and that the Tower tech dept. often makes these boo-boos in their product descriptions...

I have this engine and I am pretty sure it is ABN as when I look throught the exhaust port the liner looks like a it would be a steel liner. I can not see the brass on the outside as I would do on my ABC engines.
Sorry you other guys as I dont want to change the subject of this thread but my point here is that the cheaper price and longevity is not the most important factor when choosing a model engine if you dont get satisfied by the way it runs and behaves.

Thankyou for the input on the .91.
If Nickel was so superior in both durability, performance. Don't you think they would use it in there ultra High performance engines.
You will only see the nickel from OS in sport plane motors, and the cheap car and boat motors. All of there competition (Car, Boat and Ducted Fan) are true "ABC".
Sure it might last a while, but it is silly to think that it will last as long as a ABC engine. It is not any were near as durable as Hard Chrome. I will not pay more for an engine made with cheaper materials period.

Ok, lets get back on the topic. The Evoulution engines are not junk, but quality "TRUE ABC" engines that are performing extremely well, and possibly better than the cheaper manufactured OS'S.
From my experiences with a few newbee's at the field the engines startrd new and run flawlessly, and are really strong in the power department. A huge jump from the cheap LA'S.
I would put one up against a OS .46 FX or AX any day.

I told you you were right motorman. I stand corrected and now agree with you that OS turns out nothing but junk. I don't know HOW I could have been wrong all these years. I am definitely going to throw away all my lousy ABN OS engines and buy those exceptional engines made in China from now on. God what a fool I've been. All these years buying and using junk. I wouldn't think of selling them or giving them away. Wouldn't want any other poor modeler to end up with my junk. Thank you for showing me the error of my ways.
Oh one more little item. I HAVE used OS ABN car engines. 21VF-C. Ultra high performance engines rated at over 2 HP at 32,000. I used them in boats so I didn't have to use water cooling. Also in a couple cars. Funny they still run fine and there is no wear in the cylinder. I didn't realize they were poorly made engines so now I guess they come out of the boats.

Jim,
Thanks for posting the OS plug chart for loughbd. I was going to do that myself but I'm not a consultant....
I think the major reason that OS doesn't use chrome is sheer cost. The Japanese government taxes that process to the extent that it drives most companies to other methods, or having it plated in other countries. Supposedly, the pollution waste is astronomical. Saito pays the costs. The Chinese government probably doesn't care.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I have bought my LAST OS after buying and flying them for many years. They run great but EVERY OS engine I ever had failed due to the liner peeling after just 1 or 2 seasons. I never ran them lean, or abused them in any way, the nickel is just an inferrior material. Anyone that is not capable of seeing this fact about OS engines is just an idiot and deserves what they get.
When I asked about the peeling on the OS support forum, in a very nice way, my post was deleted by the moderator. Seems that no one is allowed to talk about real probelms there, just needle valve settings and stuff like that. Pretty sad for a great engine manufacutrer produce such garbage for the purpose of selling more liner and piston sets. I hope the chinese put OS out of business.

I ran a 10 x 6 on my arrow I think and 11x6 is too much
took the flywheel off and baffle out the muffler to really woke it up
also glue the tail on and add some epoxy fillets around the firewall
I also added a secound aileron servo and set it up with flaps really slows the landings down
It really was a fast plane after the mods until I violated the laws of physics and shared the same airspace as my son-in-laws Alpha
I lost that one and re-kitted her
