Default Which tachometer

I need to buy a tachometer digital tachometer. I've never owned one before. Which ones should I be looking for? Which ones should I stay away from?

I'm looking for the cheapest one (of course!) that will give a good steady reading, and will not need replacing for a couple years.

Thanks,
Juice

Juice,

This doesn't exactly answer your question but I thought you needed to know that the TNC is one of the best tachs you can buy and If you compare it side beside a cheap one, you'll never have anything but a TNC.

They are not made anymore but a Guy on here is in the process of purchasing the rights and should have some before spring.

Do a search on here for TNC or for Tach and you will come across the story.

Enjoy,

Jim

Default Good Tach.

Hey Juice,

Four years ago the "Thunder Tiger Digital" tach. was recommended to me and hasn't let me down yet. They are listed at www.greathobbies.com for $56 cdn. Part # is TTT2642.

Take all your tach readings from BEHIND the prop. This tach. works in all kinds of natural light. I've seen here a number of fellows can't get a reading from behind the prop only in the front? If your not getting a reading from the left side of the engine, try the right! If you still do not get a reading, turn the plane 90 deg. or even 180.

This is a good tach for the $$. I know some guys at our field were having problems with the "Globee" and that might be one to stay away from.

Happy Fly'n....

Default Black Tach.

The Thunder Tiger Tachs are solid black, so one does not have to worry about that. Just don't leave it out in the sun!
