Default Saito 150GK Setup

I bought a Saito 150GK as part of a RTF setup. This is my first Saito, actually my second but the 72 is still in the box. I've been running it on the ground and it sounds pretty good, strong pull with the 16X8 prop.

The guy I bought it from has a line running from the crank breather to the exhaust pipe, like a pressure fitting on the tank. Is this the correct way to setup a Saito? I would ask him about it but I lost his phone number and email addy.

Here is a pic so you can see what I'm talking about.

Should I plan on doing the same to my 72?

Thanks

p.s. It's on a Hangar 9 CAP; I'm trying to finally get it in the air. Should I run 15% or higher fuel?

no.the crankcase breather should just be run out the bottom of the cowl. You pressurize the tank with the muffler pressure

The other orange line is putting pressure to the tank. You can see it coming from the bottom of the plane and going into the firewall.

I still stick to my previous statement. run the way it is your pressurizing the crank case when it should be breathing and releasing oil, but if it's working for ya go for it

you will toast the bottom end if you keep it as is, you need to change it like redfox says, the muffler to the tank pressure and the crankcase to atmosephere, just hang it out the bottom.

the crankcase gets its oil from blowby and if you stop the flow out of the crankcase you stop the oil

OK, I'll change it.

Like I said this is the first Saito I have ran. I saw it like that and figured maybe it hooks up differently.

Thanks for the info.

The crank breether should be open, not running to anywhere.... Maybe a short tube to dump excess oil overboard, but keep it as open and free and short as possible.

Would running a fuel tube to the rear of the plane be too long? Just to help keep the bottom clean.

I run my 150 with an APC 16-8 and 15% I get a consistant 8900 RPM. It's kinda rich but Saito's like that and hey it's easy to track that way. I also highly recomend the OS "F" type plug

Thanks for the info.

After checking the valves and going over the engine sounds like my trouble may have been that breather tube. I'll let that drain out the bottom of the cowl and try it again.
