Balancing props?

I carefully balance all my props and spinners....always have. The props need to be balanced
for proper trouble-free operation.
Try flying a full scale airplane with an unbalanced prop....
....the instruments would probably vibrate out, and fall in your lap. [X(]

I use the DuBro balancer to check the balance.
I use clear fingernail polish to balance out a prop.
On my Saito I can tell if a prop is more than just a little bit out of whack.

I recently bought a bunch of 12 inch APC props (12x4, 12x5, 12.25x3.75) and was a little disappointed how out of balance a few of them were in comparson to the ones I bought before. I expect to do a little work but this was more than the usual balance job. One of them I decided not to even use but makes a good mixer. Anyone else having a similar experience lately with APC or any other brands? I might start taking a finger balancer to the hobby shop. It seemed like balancing the inner half (hub) was the most problematic on this batch. I might buy a few Graupners and giving them a shot next.

If you bought them from a LHS, and they're that badly OOB, return them. When I'm going to buy props, I always take a little Dubro teeter balancer to check them.

Nope, I used the recesses but that is a good point. I hate to stand there and check them at the store but that is better than the alternative.

With APC, yes. Just a question though - is your balancer centering the prop via the molded recesses in the hub, or the drilled through hole? Those drilled holes are a sore point, they are all over the freakin' map and should never be trusted.
