Default OS 61 FX Problem

Hi People,
Have an OS 61 FX with less than a gallon of fuel through it before I nosed it into frozen terra firma. It was in a U-Can-Do 46. Well I just put it in a Cap 232 and noticed the spinner backplate wobbling as I hand propped it. Put a neww crank then reinstalled it, took the glow plug out and spun it with a starter. At the end of a 13" prop I get about an 1/8 to a 1/4 in run out.
Any one have any ideas? I don't have a dial indicator. Couuld it be the backplate behind the spinner?
Thanks
Red

Did you install a new crank in the engine?

I bought a crashed engine one time understanding that the crank was bent. - Turned out that it was a busted prop drive washer.

If a spinner was in a crash and wobbles, then it needs to be replaced

Has to almost be the prop drive washer, or the prop warped. Ross

Thanks w8ye
New spinner, new crank. Was your drive washer just bent or cracked?

Thanks guys,
Just tried two other props with same resulults, this time no spinner backplate. I think the gap between the drive washer and the engine casing changes slightly. Not easy to see with these old eyes. Going to order a new one.
Thanks again.
over 25 years and only bent a crank once, along with the engine casing breaking. Into the ice that one, then the garbage.

My engine with the bent crank experience was a Saito 182 twin that got shot down. The drive washer was on the crank crooked. Not taking any chances, I just installed a new drive washer. The problem went away.

With the cost of OS parts why try to repair? Just order a Super Tiger probally won't be much higher than parts to fix OS.

Your welcome, I have been where you are before and I know first hand how expensive the OS parts can be. I ran two 61FXs and a 46FX before switching over to Super Tiger.
