Club Laser?
This could be the shortest Engine Club in history although I know there are several Lasers out there. I own the Laser 1.80 in the pictures and have a Laser .70 comming in a few days. This one just turned a Graupner 16x8 at 9,150 slightly rich on Fox 5% nitro fuel with 20% cator lube. I flew this thing twice about 6 years ago and discovered today that I had the right carb needles way off. The LS needle was a half turn too lean and the HS needle about the same. It's a wonder I didn't fry the right cylinder.

Just finished this own design pattern ship. It is 191cm span 183cm length, 4,5 kg weight.
Laser 200-V. tried a APC 16*14 and got 7600-7800 rpm. It is a bit out of its powerband I think.
Tomorrow I hope to testfly the thing with APC 16*12.

I have a Laser 70 that I have test run but it seems like every airplane I want to put it on it just doesn't fit. It does run very well but doesn't seem to be as powerful as Saito. I will get it in the air oneday.

Count me in.
I have the following sizes - 62 , 70 , 75 , 2 x 80 , 150 , 240 V Twin.
They are all, without exception, THE best 4 stroke scale engine made.
If I may be so bold as to offer some advice. You will find that the best plug for the Laser is the OS F. Only use a fuel containing no more than 15% SYNTHETIC oil. Please don't use castor oil. The designer , Neil Tidey, states that castor oil should not be used as the bulk of the lubricant. 20% oil is too much and 20% castor oil is just bad news for any engine.
Although the Laser will run quite happily on straight fuel a little bit of nitro is beneficial to any glow engine. I run all my engines on 10% Prosynth 2000. This fuel contains Aerosave oil as the lubricant and is one of the fuels recommended by Laser.

Thankyou gents, Marcol the Fox 5% with 20% castor is the only low nitro fuel I have. I am going to get together with fuelman "Cooper Fuels" and see what he has for the Laser and a couple of other engines with special requirements.
Hans, those look a lot like Irvine carbs. I'll post the .70 run results when I get it.

IMO Laser are the world's best quality four strokes. I've owned all major makes (except HP and Webra) of model four strokes and loved them all.
But Laser are special.
Mine run fine on nil nitro fuel (yep) and any warm rated plug (K&B 1L, Fireball yellow for example). I have found no improvement in idling or throttling with OS "F" or Fox "Miracle" plugs. My findings mirror Neil Tidey's advice as found in the instruction sheets with the engines.
I am currently using OPS RC 250 plugs in my Lasers (real nice plugs - are OPS plugs still made?) but ENYA No 3's also work very well.

Dave, Marcol is right. The laser 70 you're getting was on a diet of Wildcat straight synthetic, 10% nitro. I added two ounces of degumed racing castor to a gallon of the Wildcat. Wildcat sells a four stroke synthetic fuel that is very good. You can get from Tower. Also I run K&B idle bar plugs in all my Lasers. They give a super low and reliable idle. Jay

Thanks Jay, I'm looking forward to running it, all I have right now is WildCat 10% and 15% Premium Extra with 18% 80/20 syn/castor and PowerMaster 15% with same lube package. I run Fox Miracles in my 1.80 and they are perfect for it in every way, Neil Tidey must have something against Fox to say they won't work because they do indeed work. Is your 10% WildCat, Premium with 16% lube or Premium Extra with 18% lube? Thanks, Dave

The carbs on my 200-V are anodized purple. What are those?
They are damaged, and need to be replaced. The fellow I got the engine from said it belonged to his dad. He had no idea about the engine. Well, it appears the original owner decided to make some sort of weird mod to the carbs and JB welded some perforated pipe into the inlets. I need new carb bodies. Who made the purple anodized carbs?

They are Irvine carbs. I have a Laser 80 with a purple anodised carb and a later one with the Black Irvine carb.
Same carb, different colour.

Hi,
I have one Laser 150 and it is a beautiful engine with the great Irvine black case carb. Asked them for some time ago about using 15% nitro and they said it was ok and would not hurt anything.

Tommy, are you going to get some new carbs for yours, since those are boogered up? I think I'll run a Bolly 13.5x6 on the .70, does that sound reasonable? Thanks, Davey

Hmm, I think I know what I'm requesting for my birthday. 
Out of curiousity, if these are so good (and they definitely seem to have a solid reputation), why aren't they more common? Lack of advertising on this side of the pond maybe?
How do they compare with YS?
Considering their price, what would be a reason to buy a Laser over a Saito or OS, or a YS?
