Default Cunk / filter question

I have been using in all my planes the Dubro #161 tank cluck/filter.

I use these in both my gassers and nitro planes.
I was having trouble with my plane with a OS 1.60FX in it and found that the brass tube had come completely out of the filter stone.
Has anyone ever seen this? Is it a fluke?
Should I be using something else?
I have two filters on my fill cans and thought this would be an extra way to prevent dirt.

This is normally an excellent clunk.

It prevents air bubbles from being in your fuel line as well as it filters the fuel.

I've never heard of one coming apart.

It looks to be all brass so you should be able to solder it back in.

I used one of these in my gallon jug as a clunk/filter and after ~ 2 years the brass was weakened and broke at the filter junction due to fuel interacting with the brass. Now this was constantly submerged in fuel which is much different than using it in a tank, but look at the tubing and see if there is any green discoloration which will indicate fuel eating away at the brass.
